Good question; allocating myself discretionary guilt-free time for whatever I feel like doing….

Lack of investment in infrastructure to make animal management less labour intensive.

Combination of capital allocation & cash flow is a good one. I try do a good project every year that has a solid labour ROI or reduces wastage. How do you decide?

As basic as management stuff for me. Currently pulling the business to pieces on paper, whats working, whats not etc etc As a one man show, where can i get my best efficiencies etc

@stationmum101

@stationmum101 Access to tradies to repair plant & equipment that is getting increasingly complex and difficult to maintain. Lack of reliable market indicators for the beef industry, (particularly boxed), and 4 kids wasn’t enough we should have had some more !!

@stationmum101 R&M is huge. Preventative R&M has a huge ROI given the value of P&E & value of downtime

Working in the business and not on it………spending too much time doing things that I should be pushing to someone else…….the trouble is I enjoy working in the business 😏

Exclusion fencing on 2 boundaries, sick of trying to control ferals. Need to do a cost/benefit analysis.

@stationmum101 Communication and time management, which for our family run farm, is now an operational efficiency issue. I see this as being a big issue in future for many with good staff becoming harder to find. I have seen it done very well on a few farms, something I would like to improve.

@stationmum101 Good call. I’ve found a 20min Monday morning meeting gets everyone on the right path for the week & a review on Thursday morning to see how it’s going. WhatsApp or a call for everything else
