Former Washington Post editor Marty Baron says news organizations are important because the public "deserves" to know what is happening in the "corridors of power." "The role of a news organization is to give the public the information it needs and deserves to know so that they can govern themselves," he said. "The Washington Post has a long history of that and, particularly, of holding the government to account." Baron, who was editor of The Washington Post from 2012 until 2021, spoke to PBS News Hour's Geoff Bennett on Wednesday about the sweeping layoffs at the Post. The Post laid off a third of its workforce this week across both the newsroom and its business operations, a massive blow to a storied newspaper that has struggled recently to stay profitable. "The press is built into our democracy. It is provided for in the First Amendment to the Constitution because the founders understood that you needed an institution that would keep watch on government," Baron said. Okay, this is becoming statistically unreasonable. Baron pulls up one of my posts on his live. Candace pulls up another. And now 🇺🇸Lionel🇺🇸 has casually wandered in and made it three completely different posts on three different lives within 48 hours. At this point my little X account and I have stopped asking questions. 😂 This one means a lot, though. That “Just Charlie” video Lionel showed came from watching Charlie’s interview without sound and seeing something so heartbreakingly raw it felt almost too painful to watch. So I stripped everything else away and shared just Charlie — because there was something in those silent moments that I felt needed to be seen.💔 As for the missing mention, 🇺🇸Lionel🇺🇸: I’ve reviewed the evidence and decided that being ridiculously cool and having a brain I genuinely enjoy watching operate atones for a multitude of X sins. You’re forgiven. 😉🙏🏼

‼️LONG POST‼️ I was debating on posting this but I’m very upset and I’m tired of constantly remaining quiet. I was hate raided for 5 HOURS straight today on KICK I immediately messaged kick support and got constant automated responses. FOR 5 HOURS. I had to leave my chat on SUB ONLY MODE for 5 HOURS while I was live. I then decided to multi stream to Twitch so those who can’t afford to subscribe to me could still interact. Within MINUTES kick staff came into my stream… WROTE AND PINNED a message in my chat & emailed me. 4 hours into me being botted and it NOT being fixed. I am not the only one this is happening to and I am seeing NOTHING be done. People’s livelihoods are at risk. THIS IS MY JOB. It is YOURS to make sure I can WORK on YOUR PLATFORM. People’s CHILDREN are being threatened by these attacks. But apparently my MINUTES of multistreaming while forgetting to toggle is more important that attacks on your creators. I have to say I went back to look at this again. Baron is screwing with Candace. No seriously think about it. If he truly thought this was a shirt and burnt skin, he would have done it himself. On his own show for the likes and clicks. I truly was laughing at the image in my head of Baron Coleman telling Candace that she needed a 100% poly shirt. And then Candace believing him and running around her house and going through closets to find one. “No mom don’t take my fav shirt” and George saying, “honey I think you’re going too far”.
