HWC Rule 178: Allow cyclists, including any moving or waiting alongside you, enough time and space to move off when the green signal shows. HWC Rule 163: leave cyclists at least 1.5m when overtaking. HWC Rules H1–H3: drivers must protect vulnerable road users. This kind of overtake can be Careless Driving under the Road Traffic Act 1988. Police treat close passes as careless/dangerous overtakes. Let cyclists clear the junction. It’s the law - and basic decency.

It’s crazy how often I hear people complain that cyclists don’t stop at stop signs, often with the subtext that cyclists don’t deserve bike infrastructure. Do they really not realize that drivers roll through stop signs all the time too? Do people just not notice that?

This excellent video from Mikey shows the issues we have in London with red light jumping. Seeing cyclists place themselves in serious danger just so they do not have to stop. Placing increased danger on one’s self to save a few seconds. Not worth it …. The driver at the end of the clip was hopefully pulled over and check for obvious reasons

Carlos: I think it depends on the domination of the team. I think the Mercedes years was a perfect example of them being so dominating that they could afford to fight each other a bit more. I think whenever their championship can go away to a different team, a different driver, you need to respect that and be a bit more careful. I think even if the teams don't say that, the drivers' championship is something that a team wants. 🗣️: Especially when the other driver is Max Verstappen. Carlos: It doesn't matter who the other driver is. If the other driver is called Pepe or Pepito, it doesn't matter. If that championship can go for the team and the driver, and you have two drivers fighting for it, and there's one guy that can take it, it doesn't matter if it's Carlos Sainz, Max Verstappen or Charles Leclerc. You want the championship for your two drivers, so you want to keep them relatively under control.

As we begin #NationalPedestrianSafety month, this particular incident should serve as a reminder to take an extra few seconds to ensure the path you are turning into is clear of those in the crosswalk. #DCSO Deputy Montgomery was working traffic enforcement when he spotted this car turning left on a flashing yellow turn signal, almost into the path of two cyclists (one a child) in the crosswalk. The cyclists had the right-of-way. The driver is responsible for ensuring the path is clear before they turn; this means that no one is in the crosswalk. Thinking you could make it before the pedestrian or cyclist gets across is a huge safety risk that no one should take. #DriveSmartandSafe

A trained and licensed motorist does some illegal driving manoeuvres, but it's OK because they have number plates so the driver can be easily identified. Cyclists on the other hand can do the same things with complete anonymity.

I'm shocked the Met Police issued an awareness course to this driver. If I was not hyperaware, on a bike with hydraulic disk brakes, and extremely experienced at using said brakes, this would have resulted in a collision that would have left me with serious injuries.
