Anyone who says the cyclist is at fault in this video needs their license suspending indefinitely. He cut that corner and ran into the poor bloke.

I hate to say this, can’t stand Lycra wankers but he was clearly on the LH side, inside the line. The car clearly cut the corner. On top of that how did the driver not see him ????

Rule 73 of the Highway Code states that when cyclists are ‘to proceed as if they were a car’. That junction only had space for one car, not 2, so the cyclist had no right to be there & thereby was committing an act of ‘dangerous overtaking’ at the junction…?

Driver. He cut the corner

This still image should tell you most of what you need to know. Those white lines are there for a purpose. Look at the geometry of the junction. The cyclist is waiting to turn right. The car has cut across the mouth of the junction so severely that it has ended up on completely the wrong side of it, precisely where the cyclist is waiting. Whatever preceded the impact, the road markings make that particular part pretty unambiguous. But what interests me almost as much as the driving is the psychology afterwards. I've experienced something remarkably similar myself. In a Sainsbury's car park, another driver seemed strangely averse to using anything approaching full-lock steering. I was effectively the "ABZ" car here, except in a much narrower space. She had manoeuvred herself across my path and blocked me completely. I couldn't go forward, and very quickly I couldn't reverse either because traffic had queued behind me. So I waited. And waited. Two Sainsbury's staff members, who had been watching while waiting for a lift, eventually came over. They spoke to her, then came to me and explained that they'd told her she was in the wrong and needed to move. Still she wouldn't budge. By now she was yelling something at me from inside her car, with the windows closed, so I couldn't hear a word. I simply waited some more. Eventually the drivers trapped behind me lost patience and reversed away. That gave me room, so I reversed about a car's length. She now had ample space to continue her manoeuvre using whatever enormous turning circle she apparently preferred. And here's the really bizarre part: She still refused to move. At that point it plainly wasn't about manoeuvring the cars any more. It had become a battle of wills that existed almost entirely in her own head. There's some interesting psychology behind this. Cognitive dissonance, psychological reactance and escalation of commitment can all play a part. Once somebody has publicly committed themselves to being "right", backing down can start to feel like losing. And perversely, the more evidence appears that they're wrong, particularly when other people point it out, the greater the psychological cost of admitting it. So they double down. You see exactly the same phenomenon constantly on X. Someone makes a claim. You produce evidence showing it's wrong. Instead of saying, "Fair enough, I got that wrong", they modify the argument. You answer the new argument. They modify it again. Eventually they're defending a position they probably wouldn't have adopted in the first place, simply because conceding now feels worse than continuing. That's escalation of commitment. The objective quietly changes. Winning no longer means being right. It means not being seen to back down. And I suspect there's an element of exactly that in incidents like this. Making the original mistake is one thing. Being unable to admit you've made it can turn a momentary error into an utterly unnecessary confrontation. In this RTA scenario, I imagine it would have been fairly quickly sorted out with a 999 call, and my comparison is purely speculation regards this incident. But it makes you think doesn't it?

The white car correctly turned into the correct lane, the car that hit the cyclist cut the corner ... lazy car drivers cut corners too many times.

You mean, was it the cyclist on the correct side of the road, or the car that cut the corner and hit him on the wrong side of the road? mmmmmm. Not sure

The driver was at fault. You don't cut corners when turning into a new road because that's what will happen. As for the cyclist, he could have been ready to turn right which is why he was there as the position of the other car at the junction looked like it was going to turn left because if it was going to turn right then the car would have been in the wrong position in the first place. You were taught this when you have driving lessons and on your driving test. If you did that you would fail.

In this instance Id have to say the driver But u know wat, if the Highway Code wasnt such an arse, and Cycles and Motorcycles just waited behind the vehicle in front practically none of this crap would ever happen

If he would had waited behind that car instead of squeezing up along side of it, he would not had been hit. Instead he wanted to be a dk and do whatever he wants, just like most cyclist, and not obey the laws of the road! If he'd been on a motorcycle yalls comments would be diff

I'm no pro-cyclist - but for anyone claiming he was too far over, or right in the middle, he was correct for what he needed to do. He could have been as far over as the triangle in the road and still be hit by the driver cutting the line. Not rocket science.

Yeah, I don't see any wrong doers here. The cyclist appeared to be obeying traffic laws and the driver was not targeting him. A bit of confusion. I just hope the cyclist was not hurt bad.

One has to have a license and insurance to drive a car. But these fucking cunts on bikes do not, so they don’t follow traffic laws, disregard safety, and cause damage to vehicles without compensation to the vehicle owner. All because they’re a bunch of entitled assholes.

Cyclists are known to usually take the soft side of the road. In this case it was supposedly the left side of the car, but the cyclist chose to go in the middle, which is wrong cos he's too small to be seen fast, although the car was at fault by not driving slower in intersection

This clip is a thousand years old and has been posted a thousand times before. And just like every other occasion, the driver is in the wrong here. Hope this helps but do try and find some new material - it's beyond boring.
