In college the try is from the 3 and XP is 19 yards, the XP is 100% a better call. In the NFL I think you can argue the strategy.

Jake you stumbled into some complex GTO math. most math models say they would prefer the other team take the roughly 45% conversion rate going for 2 it’s close and arguably wrong. If the coach is aggressively finding tiny math edges throughout the game, this could be correct.

Let's say TTU did go for two, Houston then scored a TD which would've made it 26-27, and an extra point ties the game. Instead, TTU makes the extra point, Houston gets the TD making it 26-28 and TTU stops them on the 2 pt attempt. That's why you don't go for 2
