Will DLSS 5 ruin art direction in video-games? Jensen himself explained that DLSS 5 is a fusion of 3D controllable graphics with generative AI that is probabilistic. Yet at the same time, the developers will supposedly have full control of their game's unique aesthetic through controls for intensity, color... show more

Full control" and "probabilistic AI fills in what it wants" don't really go together when you say them out loud

The memes today are glorious! 🤣

It's a smoke screen. This is img2img and as such doesn't rely on the input even being any good. The endgame is no longer having to pay artists. Once this tech is normalized they can put the crudest gfx blobs in as guides for the AI slop generation.

Which "art direction" is being ruined? Capcom worked together with NVidia (including their "art team") to have these results. The real question is: Why do random people feel so superior to tell even the creators what their "art direction" is and should be?

Alway remember that RAM and GPU price are skyrocket thank to this AI tech. A tech which you 'll definitely turn off to enjoy the game. In the end, you're basically forced to pay the upfront price for a thing you never use . Soon you cant even affort your own computer either

And you belive Jensen?? LOL

YES, i don't need a degree to realize how fucked up this tech is, i'd even say it's immoral

They made Grace from RE9 look like Amber Heard 🤦🤦🤦

Even if they remove the character ai filter changes the software is overriding the art made for light sources, vegetation and shadows. It literally ruins it so bad.

DLSS 5 is going to require more RAM an VRAM for the AI Slop

It's just an earlier version, they might roll out many updates I hope it will change the gaming industry

It’s a mixed bag, but when they revealed how people looked it was a major drawback. I see online a lot of people appreciate the environments but also many who just want frame generation or no ai scaling at all. I think it’s possibly the early stages but will just see how it goes.

Someone needs to throw plate full of cake at him

Whole lotta buzzwords

If you believe in a profesional lier that is jensen huang....you deserve to be decieved by everyone!

They should've just focused on making DLSS more capable of retaining details instead of this bs, relying on hallucinated outputs is a bad idea. There's no "developer control", it's just gonna be retraining until it looks "fine" or adding bandaid solutions like decreasing impact.

Someone tell Jensen to stop releasing 8gb vram of midrange gpu

EXACTLY. DEVELOPERS DO NOT control the problematic interpration at the end of the render based on how ever the AI model thinks it should look. Dark shadows for mood? Gone, needs to be realistic. Anything like noise, grain, dirt , drab effects removed not realistic. RIP art

ofc fifa and ea are the first to embrace that slop.

How this is different from artists using ai to generate concept art??

What's the issue? The devs can implement different features and test and where it doesn't work they can choose not to implement that feature of it. We know it does materials, skin, character shadows and world lighting. They can just choose not to use what doesn't work for them

Terrible, embarrassing and pointless. 😦

AI is a blackbox cant control its output very easily.

It's only gets better from here

Gray areas, Gray areas everywhere

NO

Fuck you Jensen

so which one is true? if its up to games art director is good news i guess, not just "beautification" standard from AI

This is the future of realistic graphics.
