However, if you look closely at the video when they move the slider, the character face structure (especially on the nose) changes significantly, this is one thing that I don't think generative AI gets right, especially during motion. There are also three different models trained on different data resulting in multiple looks that the developers can also choose from.

During DLSS 5 Hands-On Video, YouTube creator Hot Hardware asked Nvidia employees this question about the computational cost of DLSS 5 when you move around in the game and it really caught my eye on how they hesitated on showing any DLSS 5 footage during motion. Every time that he moved the character, he would turn off DLSS 5 first then move to a different in-game location and then turn it on, or if DLSS 5 was turned on the movement was very slow and controlled. I know this is still work in progress, but it really begs the question "why wouldn't they show any this?" or "why show DLSS 5 this early?" I tried freezing some shots when another character is in motion to check if there are any artifacts when DLSS 5 is turned on. As suspected, I did come across some artifacts with UI elements, character popping out of the UI element and ghosting/artifacts behind the character. Its still not the best way to judge these small details that you can clearly see if a footage is recorded in-game, but then again its not like Nvidia provided any of them during DLSS 5 marketing campaign. Whenever this is still going to be present by the time DLSS 5 launches remains to be seen, however as of right now it doesn't look like it will handle fast-paced motion quite well and I don't know how well this "controlled AI-generated" rendering will scale to weaker GPUs in the RTX 50 series

It all started with fake frames, now its evolving onto fake graphics? Imagine if FSR, XeSS and PSSR started embracing this kind of upscaling. In the same game, you will have different looking outputs for every different upscaler because these AI models wont be trained on the same data. Grace in this case here, will look different on an Nvidia GPU using DLSS 5, she will look different using FSR, PSSR or XeSS. You get the point I don't why but I always felt that DLSS was always supposed to provide only one thing, give gamers a better framerate while retaining the same image quality as native resolution. I don't want a randomized output for a character's face that I won't recognize if I turn on DLSS 5 even if my framerate triples. Nvidia and all the game studios embracing this AI slop should take a step back in my opinion because this is not it, even if it is years away.

Did Cyberpunk 2077 just beat GTA 6 graphics? The NVIDIA DLSS 5 Neural AI leak allows modders to enable it for nearly any game now, from Gatcha games to Skyrim and now Cyberpunk 2077. YouTuber Swurvgaming shows off maxed out DLSS 5 Neural Rendering, which uses AI to render characters extremely realistically with higher fidelity than even GTA 6 arguable. Whether or not you like the look is something else. Many are calling it the worst thing they've ever seen, with uncanny valley and AI slop accusation. If you look at my other posts like DLSS 5 on Skyrim, you will see the look can be subtle too and there are sliders you can use to tune it. Subtle is better, IMHO. This is done via the RenoDX mod, which unlocks a still experimental NVIDIA DLL feature. This technology was first demo's by nVidia and took TWO 5090's to run. Now it's running at 30fps on a 5060 for many games like CONTROL. I think this tech is going to start dominating games, not just for realism, but for stylized looks and refreshing older games like Skyrim, where the tech works without that feeling of creepy alienation. This is just one filter. With AI you can train it for a lot of different looks, like Anime or even something like Arcane. Changing the look of a game will be something available at the flick of a switch and personalized by you, the player's taste.

Soon, generative AI will be a part of our 3d workflows.. and once that happens, we'll need 3d tools that are more well-suited for fast prototyping, more intuitive sculpting, and a departure from the overly complex and time-consuming workflows of most 3d tools today. Unbound is such a tool and here's a quick test I did today where I combined the output of it with Krea. Unbound is in early development and I recommend following the creators here: Unbound. #ai #art

One criticism I always see towards games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto VI recently is the topic of small details. "Why does a game need so many details, it doesn't make the experience any better and takes longer to develop" While I do agree with the fact that Rockstar Games development schedules in between each release keep getting longer, the fact is that when you aim for such a high level of realism in a video-game, its not about graphics anymore, its about immersion. I'm sure that if you played RDR2, you know that your horse sweating or its balls shrinking in the cold don't add much to the gameplay itself, but it makes the game feel like its real. This is precisely what sets apart Rockstar Games from other game studios, the level of immersion you get in those games is unbeaten. RDR2, a game designed for the PS4 console has a level of fluidity and immersion that I have yet to see in a video-game from any other game studio, each game mechanic seems to work flawlessly that it feels like a living and breathing open world game. Hell, sometimes you feel bad for shooting an NPC which never happened to me in a video-game before. When you're playing it, hours can go by and you don't even. In other open-world games, sometimes you can notice limitations, for example the same NPCs appearing in one object or the same scripted conversations. RDR2 manages to make that gap of a video-game and reality feel thinner, not get rid of it entirely of course. Making such a massive game filled with tons of details means that it can be can be played for multiple years after its release and not feel outdated. Its not all about details of course, when a game takes so long to develop, the stakes get higher each time and Rockstar Games has to make sure that they deliver on the story that is being told too, hence the reason why their games have always been historically good in terms of writing. Now to address the elephant int he room, the main issue is that as the complexity increases for each new release and optimizing all of these systems to work in tandem, the development time increases and we get longer periods of waiting. Is all of this worth it? In my opinion, yes. Its Rockstar Games after all, they have the budget necessary and the talent to achieve this kind of feat. Not only does it raise the bar for what is possible to do in a video-game, but it also is highly rewarding when you play the game for the first time and its unlike anything you've seen these past couple of years. When I finished playing Red Dead Redemption 2 for the first time, every new game that came out felt outdated for me. Just as technology keeps going forward, the same applies here with open world games too. What are your thoughts on this topic?

This whole DLSS 5 Ai Discourse in a nutshell. Max has great points here, many people people got tricked into thinking it looks good but if you look at the overall picture it actually looks like Shit, this Ai Horseshit doesn't know where the light source is supposed to be and it just makes up random features of characters. I changed my stance on this, Generative Ai on DLSS 5 is Pure Ai Slop, it's pure Horsehit. 🐎💩 #NoAi #NotInmyGames #DLSS5 🐎💩

Generative AI is more, it is a success in many areas in many fields! I am serious when I say that the world will no longer be the same in a few years' time. When we will no longer die from previously incurable diseases. When we can solve problems that we thought were unsolvable.
