You don’t see toxic data centers near Mar-a-Lago or at Elon Musk’s house. Why? Because they think they are the only class of people that deserve clean land, air, & water. Memphis needs a data center moratorium until proper regulations are passed to protect our communities.

Greg Abbott started the data center madness in Texas. He has the power to stop it TODAY. I'm calling on Abbott to sign an emergency executive order to declare a moratorium on new data centers until he calls the legislature until a special session.

I will be pushing for a moratorium on the construction of data centers that are powering the unregulated sprint to develop & deploy AI. The moratorium will give democracy a chance to catch up, and ensure that the benefits of technology work for all of us, not just the 1%.

I’m calling for a moratorium on data centers until Florida has a responsible plan to protect our water, power grid, and communities. Byron Donalds wants to hand pristine Florida land over to the industry funding his campaign. Our state is not for sale.

As Governor, I will put a moratorium on data centers until we can get this right. We need to protect our environment, hold corporations accountable, and ensure these projects are done with union labor.

I’m calling for a moratorium on data centers until Florida has real protections for our water, air, communities, economy, and privacy. Byron Donalds wants to rush them onto pristine land while dismissing the consequences. That is not leadership. It is proof he is out of touch and unfit to govern Florida.

Instead of listening to people’s demands to get rid of AI data centers, last night, Congress passed the Ratepayer “Deception” Act and went home. Congress needs to get real. It’s time to pass a national AI data center moratorium and my No AI Data Centers on Federal Lands Act.

If Michigan doesn’t build data centers, other states will. But is that a good reason to race ahead? Michigan congressional candidate Will Lawrence and Astead discuss why Lawrence wants a federal moratorium on data center construction and what’s at stake for workers and communities.

JB Pritzker has given over $1 billion in tax breaks to data centers, at one point making us the #2 state for data centers in the country (we're #4 now). All with no guardrails to protect local residents or regulate energy or water usage. So it's no surprise to see the room packed with opponents when a 3rd data center campus was being proposed in Hoffman Estates. Pritzker and Springfield failed to pause tax incentives for data centers and failed to put in place common sense regulations that ensure data centers pay all their energy costs, limit water usage, and contribute to a property tax relief fund for Illinoisans. Vote Independent in November and we will get it done.

This is NY State Senator Kristen Gonzales talking about the data center moratorium at a DSA Ecosocialism event: "I wanted to talk today about a bill that we just passed...that would impose a one-year moratorium on the biggest data centers, and then also talk a little bit about from a socialist and office perspective, what I see some of the challenges being and some of the opportunities for our organization when it comes to data centers." The executive order Hochul signed today was pushed by some of the most radical left-wing groups in the country. This isn't an organic movement. (h/t Stu Smith):

🚨 IT'S OFFICIAL: The US House just OVERWHELMINGLY passed the Ratepayer Protection Act, which supports President Trump's policies to keep American households from paying for the power grid upgrades used by data centers That's COMMON SENSE! 👏🏻 Final vote tally: 417-3 Trump has REPEATEDLY said that his intention for data centers is for the companies to put more power into the grid than they take, which could actually lower costs. This bill, HR 9340, must go to the SENATE before President Trump can sign it

When it comes to data centers, Mike Lawler and I could not be more different. I support a data center moratorium; Mike opposes one. I support giving local communities the authority to put guardrails on data centers; Mike voted to ban local control over data centers. As a former lobbyist for the utility monopolies profiting off of data centers, Mike continues to rake in hundreds of thousands from Big Tech. He voted to give them $80 billion in tax breaks for data centers, then voted to make it easier to build them. As your next member of Congress, I’ll ensure utility monopolies don't pass utility costs onto families, hurt our environment, or exploit our communities. #NY17Debate

Data centers need power, water, and land so of course they’re looking at Michigan. But how should we look at them? When I'm governor, we're going to have a one-year moratorium on all data centers so we can dig into the details and evaluate. Families must come first.

Done badly, data centers can raise electricity prices. Done right—by connecting onto a grid with ample capacity or by adding new capacity—data centers can lower electricity prices. The goal should be to build data centers the right way. My appearance on the The Will Cain Show
