UPDATE: As of Tuesday evening, 1,175 line and tree crews are working to restore power. That figure exceeds that of the Ice Storm of 1998, which saw 1,048 line and tree crews at its peak. 149,000 customers have already been restored, and we will continue working around the clock.

As Tropical Storm Lee continues to move slowly across the province, parts of Nova Scotia are experiencing wind gusts that can make conditions hazardous for our crews. When wind speeds are over 80km an hour, it isn’t safe for our crews to be up in the buckets and so we focus on assessing damage, responding to 911 calls, and restoring power from the ground where possible. In some parts of the province, we anticipate that these significant winds will continue for much of today. We do our best to give an estimate of when power will be restored. As we continue to assess damage across the province, we will update estimates. We encourage everyone to keep an eye on for the latest information. ⚠️ System Update: All high-voltage lines connecting TVA’s supply of electricity to local power companies have been restored. The last remaining line in Mississippi was returned to service this morning. TVA crews worked in challenging conditions throughout the ice storm response, using both ground and aerial resources to assess damage, complete repairs, and safely restore transmission service. The transmission system is stable and secure, and TVA is positioned to deliver power to meet demand. TVA will continue follow-up work to repair non-critical damage identified during inspections and strengthen system reliability. We remain closely coordinated with local power company partners as they complete repairs to their distribution systems and restore service to remaining customers.
