With how improved Tesla's Actual Smart Summon is now, I would be perfectly fine with the ability to "banish" my car after it drops me off in front of the store. FSD handles parking lots flawlessly at this point, it would just need to perfect the parking maneuver every time.

FSD V14.1 is ready for Banish! Although not quite perfect, V14 is INCREDIBLY good in parking lots. This video showcases how close we are to banish becoming an actual usable feature in our cars. The idea is to have the car route to a curbside drop off and then immediately route to a parking lot destination. That simulates being dropped off at the front of the store and then getting out of the car and the car going to park on its own.

Breadcrumbs of Banish appear to be in the latest Actually Smart Summon release. My Model 3 parked itself on ASS (FSD v14.3.2) after I blocked the road and used hand signals to direct it into a parking spot (target was on opposite side of the building). I've never seen it do this before. It didn't just pull in across the lines, it parked near-perfectly like it does on FSD. Worked with my Model 3 and TeslaFSD - Dave's Model Y on first attempt. Of course when I brought out the camera it took like 7 tries, but it eventually did it again! Not enough data to conclude if it's actually listening to my hand signals, or just giving up and deciding to park instead of block the road. Would be interesting to see if other people can try and replicate this. Everything is there for Banish to work, just comes down to Tesla feeling comfortable enough to let it go unsupervised in parking lots.

Just tried Actually Smart Summon while on FSD 14.1 It’s seems pretty much identical, I don’t believe there has been any changes. Can’t wait for Banish. My car will drop me off in front of the store, then go park all by itself.

Spent ~2.5 hours in the rain yesterday testing Smart Summon on FSD v14.3.2 at various shopping centers. Huge improvement in reliability. Not one instance where it disconnected or stopped in the middle of a parking lot like would sometimes happen with the previous version, either due to connectivity, large puddles, or sudden loss of visibility. Some features I would like to see: - Expanded radius. The biggest hurdle is just parking close enough to use it. - Higher speed. People sometimes drive around the car if it's going too slow. - Hazards after completion. Humans put their hazards or a blinker on when pulling over curbside, FSD should too.

Here's my first drive on Tesla FSD V14.3.2, as well as showing off improved Actually Smart Summon. I really like how Mad Max behaved tonight. I tried on the highway twice, and it never hugged the far left lane once. It also never went above 80mph. The way it behaved was perfect (for what I like). Your milage may vary. Actually Smart Summon starts up and pulls forward/backs out of parking spots much quicker. It's also more confident around people and uses its blinkers correctly. You can feel the groundwork being laid out for Banish in the future.

This weekend, I spent about an hour total riding in the back seat of my Model Y while using the updated Actually Smart Summon, across four different parking lots, some of them very busy. The car handled everything very well. Its behavior felt so natural that hardly anyone even noticed it was driving itself lol. The improvements with Actually Smart Summon in FSD V14.3.2 are notable. Tesla recently unified the model between Actually Smart Summon, FSD, and Robotaxi for more capable and reliable behavior. The car now pulls over in a much more natural and robotaxi like way, and responds instantly to app input. When you initiate the summon, it starts driving immediately. If you lift your finger off the button, it stops immediately. If someone is backing out, the car will recognize that and react before you could. Also, zero connection issues. You can feel Tesla laying the ground work for banish in the future. I'd like to see the max operating speed increased above 6 MPH. If you get FSD V14.3.2, definitely go try out the updated Actually Smart Summon. Here's some of my testing:

Holy crap. Just had a FLAWLESS drive on FSD v14.1.4 going from my parking spot at home to my gym. It parked itself in the ONLY available spot in the section perfectly. This is why I paid for FSD in full on my Model 3 🤩 Can’t wait to see how it performs on my Y!

This is the current most frequent weakness of FSD for me. There are a few other things they need to finish, but everything outside of this scenario is super rare for me and mostly an afterthought. It’s incredible that FSD can maneuver through these spaces and eventually figure itself out, but it is still not smart enough in parking lots/garages to be usable. When you let it go, it usually figures itself out, but it takes forever and usually blows by tons of parking spots. The only reason it didn’t get stuck in an infinite loop here is because I toggled destination option from “charging” to “parking lot.” Not sure why it was set to charging, as this destination isn’t a charging destination. I have found that the default destination opinion is very often wrong. It either picks the wrong option, or doesn’t have options like charging when it should. For now, most of us take over at parking lots. Not because FSD isn’t capable here, but because it doesn’t function intelligently enough to be more convenient than just finishing the park yourself. It kinda reminds me of V12 before FSD could reverse. It feels like the brain knows it’s fucking up and wants to do the right thing, but it is blocked from being able to 😂 Wen reasoning stack

This is huge and exactly what is needed for FSD. Elon Musk says future FSD software releases will remember your parking preferences when arriving at a destination. The only time I need to disengage FSD is when reversing into my garage to charge. Hopefully now it’ll remember where and how I want to park. This could also help people with dedicated parking spots at work, etc. I can’t wait to try it out, I know a lot of people were waiting for something like this.

First drive & impressions of FSD 14.2 in South Central Texas. I just received the update on my 2025 Model 3 & went out to test it on some areas where FSD has had difficulties in previous versions including the previous FSD 14.1.7 and also to get overall impressions. Overall, it did well over about 45 miles of driving on rural highways, congested areas with lots of traffic, construction, grocery store busy parking lots & rural post office destinations. Although in general it did very well in a variety of situations, a few stood out that I want to highlight where I did have disconnects & unusual behaviors that seem to have been introduced with FSD 14.2. Summary of Strengths: Smooth, confident most of the time, and polished. Felt comfortable at all times while FSD was driving the car. This includes all of the driver settings (Sloth, Chill, Standard, Hurry & Mad Max) Opportunities & areas with challenges: - Navigation database mismatches really becoming a glaring deficiency with the approach Tesla AI is using, not just because of recent or ongoing construction, but also with established routes, roads & destinations - FSD 14.2 stopped unexpectedly at a gas station that was not part of the route or any destination in the route. After parking, I tapped the Start Self Driving button and the car resumed as if it was starting at an intermediate stopping point & it continued on to the original destination. - A second strange Navigation challenge happened when arriving at my home. For no apparent reason, it tried to go to my neighbors house … something no previous FSD version has done. Very strange. - Construction prevented FSD from entering into the selected grocery store entrance, but instead of taking several obvious nearby detour routes or doing a U-turn, it re-mapped the route & drove a few miles past the grocery store & into a residential area, did a turn around & then rerouted all the way back to the grocery store. This was several miles of added driving & passed numerous paths that were much closer & available. - Parking in angled parking spaces continues to be a big challenge for FSD 14.2 … it took up two parking spaces & at an odd angle when parking at a rural Post Office, disregarding the painted signs & angled marks on the parking spaces & the sign posts for the parking spaces. It also attempted to drive the wrong way in the one-way parking area. - Speed profiles seem a bit better, but speeding, especially in my neighborhood area is still excessive. For some reason, a posted 25 mph section showed a 65 mph speed sign on the MCU display & FSD tried to drive to that speed. This might be related to navigation databases mismatches issues mentioned earlier. In summary, I think Tesla FSD 14.2 shows some promising signs of progress, but still has several areas that need additional work, the biggest of which is the navigation databases mismatch issues. I’d like to see some way for owners to provide inputs to the FSD team to provide navigation map updates that can help fix these issues. Also, having a way to “train” FSD in specific areas, say at your home so it knows how to properly enter the driveway, back into the garage, select which side of the garage, etc… would be very helpful.

I was leaving a parking lot and witnessed this. 🤔 The car in front of me stops at the line, and FSD of course stops behind them. But when the person in front me goes, FSD doesn't come to a full stop again. Is this a rolling stop or the system didn't know to stop again?

This is the ballsiest thing I’ve seen FSD do in my car. It threaded the needle passing between two cars in the Costco parking lot and then parked itself right after. This is the most human like behavior I’ve seen with FSD so far.

I'm now fully convinced Tesla's FSD system is the future of driving. It drove me through it all. Tight curbside streets, janky parking garages, rain-slicked freeways, and even the crooked mess of Lombard Street -- both in dry and wet weather -- all without a hiccup. It handled it better than some people I saw reversing down driveways. I never felt the need to take over. Parking was the cherry on top. FSD Beta 12: The One Where It Parks Itself After consistently having the car either park itself into a stall (if my destination was a parking lot) or pull to the curb out of the roadway (if the destination was on a street), I experienced this… Set the destination to a random alley in Downtown Sacramento. The car pulls into the alley, driving slow. Based on my previous experiences earlier in the drive it appears to be looking for a spot. Seems like it couldn’t find one it could fit into. Instead of stopping in the middle of the roadway (how v11 would have performed) the car rerouted itself around the block and back into the alley. When it gets back into the alley, it immediately parks into a parking stall instead of proceeding all the way to the destination. This is EXACTLY what I would have done if I was driving. After seeing there was no parking spots the first time, I would have driven around the block and parked in the first available spot I could find. Whether or not this is what actually happened is up for debate. But based on the previous 5 or so tests I performed before this, it really does seem like it was looking for a spot to park. I’ll post the video of the entire drive with the other parking examples later on today. Maybe Elon Musk can chime in as to what happened here?
