Working on a ChatGPT plugin that lets Codex build iOS apps on my remote Mac and send an install link right in the chat. It keeps a build history and lets me share builds with others. Working on apps from my iPhone while out and about just got faster...

The plugin provides a nice visual preview embedded in the chat in the desktop app, but for some reason, this doesn't work with Codex Remote. Hoping OpenAI will fix that 🤞

An install link is cool, but even cooler is this:

I’ve been doing this with Sqim!

Nice! I recently built the same thing (ad-hoc signing right?)

Yep. I'd be disappointed if not every single iOS developer was working on this setup 😄

Why don’t you just use @bitrig

@bitrig Several reasons. One of them is that I’m building a Unity project.

I've got a setup where it automatically installs onto my phone. No link, no hassle.

The install link coming back into the chat is the bit I like. Being able to ask for a build from my phone is cool, but if I have to go back to the Mac to install it, I’ve lost the best part.

seeing Wavy Road open on the phone sells this. 'build succeeded' turns into something you can actually play.

yesterday I was thinking about something like that. Looking forward to the result and test it!

the install link in the chat is a clean idea. do the shared builds work for people without a dev account?

Cool I’ve been using TestFlight for this mostly, have you considered that?

Yes, ad hoc builds are delivered faster. It skips all the TestFlight shenanigans.

Gotcha, was looking into the ad hoc route also but I believe it doesn’t support sandbox storekit which testflight does
