Niger Moves To End Plastic Pollution In an effort to combat environmental pollution, the government of Niger is enforcing a 12-year old law banning the use of plastic carrier bags in the country. The government gave Nigerien marketers 6 months to phase out their use of plastic bags, with the law set to go into full enforcement in January 2027. This move is in keeping with Nigerien President General Abdourahmane Tiani’s progressive vision for the country, which has continued to record economic, social and political wins since severing ties with its former colonizer France in 2023.

🚨🚨🚨 We just learned that the House is going to be voting TOMORROW on H.J.Res 140: the single largest threat posed to the Boundary Waters to date. This bill would *permanently* open the Boundary Waters up to mining, and prevent all future administrations from protecting these public lands. This would pave the way for sulfide-ore copper mining in the region -- the most toxic industry in America -- which has never been allowed in Minnesota before. It would cause irreversible damange to the most visited wilderness area in the country. And this would be a massive sell-out to foreign interests over the American people. This would give mining rights to Trump's Chilean-based mining company billionaire buddies, who will extract our resources, pollute our air, land, and water, permanently damage our pristine Boundary Waters, and leave Minnesotans to foot the bill for the clean up. I'm urging all of my colleagues to vote NO. We need to get loud and stop this legislation.

How TN is turning waste into wealth- alongside conserving marine biodiversity ! Here is a project to ponder on this Global Recycling Day. The Tamil Nadu Fishnet Initiative is tackling plastic pollution on ground with the local community. At the Kasimedu Fishing Harbour in Chennai, a pilot project has established a discarded fishnet collection center, where fisherfolk are paid 40 Rs per kg for bringing discarded plastic and nylon nets. So far, the center has collected 12,984 kg of discarded nets, with 5.20 Lakh paid to the fishing community by the recycler. Of this, 10,710 kg has already been recycled into reusable plastic granules, transforming waste into wealth. Set up by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, the TN Fishnet Initiative is set to expand its wings. #GobalRecyclingDay #Recycling #StopPlasticPollution

But a certain corporation wants to dump a whole lot of treated Sewage from about 2900 homes which would discharge on average 1 million gallons per day of treated sewage into the Hilotes Creek watershed which recharges up to 15% of the Edwards aquifer. It is called Lennar Corp. And it is a Florida based developer and they want to put a big 2900 home subdivision in there and then dump all this treated sewage. Keep in mind, when they treat sewage, they're not pulling out the fluoride, the chlorine, the trace pharmaceuticals, the contraceptives, all this estrogenic chemicals would go right into the water table. New footage released shows an EA-18G Growler jet crashing into the San Diego Bay this morning. The two pilots ejected before the jet crashed into the water. The crash caused an 80 foot plume of water and mud, according to a witness. According to the San Diego Union Tribune, the jet was performing a “go around maneuver” when the incident unfolded. The pilots both landed in the water and were picked up by a nearby fishing boat. They were sent to the hospital and are now in stable condition. “Captain Brandon Viets and the crew of the Premier acted swiftly, and thanks to their professionalism, were able to bring these pilots to safety,” said the manager of the company that books the fishing boats.
