This video is from the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway. The expressway has four lanes, and truck drivers are driving in all four lanes. All the lanes are blocked by trucks. As a result, people traveling by car on the expressway are facing a lot of inconvenience, as they are unable to overtake from any lane. In reality, truck drivers are supposed to use a designated lane on the expressway, yet they are driving across all the lanes. We can build world-class expressways, but without civic sense, even the best infrastructure becomes ineffective.

Newly released video shows Utah County sheriff’s deputies and Utah Highway Patrol troopers stopping a wrong-way driver on I-15 early last month. According to the original incident report, two deputies responded to an agency assist after reports of a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-15 near mile marker 263. Deputies located the vehicle near mile marker 269. One deputy struck the driver’s side of the vehicle, spinning it into another deputy’s patrol car, which prevented the wrong-way vehicle from reentering traffic. Both deputies and both occupants of the vehicle were not injured. All three vehicles sustained damage. Utah Highway Patrol took over the crash investigation and investigated the driver for DUI. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened shortly after 4 a.m. on Jan. 24, calling wrong-way driving a recurring and dangerous problem on Utah roadways. The sheriff’s office praised the deputies for putting themselves in harm’s way and said it is grateful no one was hurt. UHP continues to handle the crash and DUI investigation.

Crash Details: A semi-trailer truck struck a vehicle involved in an earlier crash, causing the truck to roll onto its side. Eyewitnesses say the speeding driver lost control of the vehicle and knocked down three people. Two of the victims were traveling on motorcycles, while the third was a pedestrian. Due to the median barrier, the deputy was unable to get behind the car but observed the driver swerving through oncoming traffic. Another deputy was quickly dispatched to the area and intercepted the wrong-way driver. During the initial traffic stop, the driver appeared to try to evade the deputy. The driver then conducted a U-turn to face the correct direction on E-470 and pulled onto the right shoulder. The vehicle was traveling at about 40 MPH, and police said the incident was “unlike anything” they had seen before. McSlarrow performed a tactical vehicle intervention to “prevent a potential crash or serious injury”, waking the driver and bringing the car to a stop. Police said the driver had worked nearly 20 hours within 24 hours, and had fallen asleep on the drive home while the vehicle’s lane assist was activated.
