I think the fear is real, but the “AI will no longer need humans at all” part is overhyped. AI running data centers will cause a loss of a ton of jobs, coding, customer service, data entry, even some creative work, and we’re already seeing tens of thousands of AI-linked layoffs. That disruption is coming fast. But AI still needs humans for maintenance, repair, building the infrastructure, making decisions, and inventing new things. Full self-sufficiency where machines run everything without any people is further down the road. Job loss is the real issue to worry about, not total human obsolescence.

I think the fear is real, but the “AI will no longer need humans at all” part is overhyped. AI running data centers will cause a loss of a ton of jobs, coding, customer service, data entry, even some creative work, and we’re already seeing tens of thousands of AI-linked layoffs.
