Yesterday, while passing through Fadeyi Road, I saw someone dumping refuse illegally and had to stop to document it. I also raised concerns about the growing heap of waste at the location. Today, I passed by again and was pleased to see LAWMA already clearing the site. Kudos to... show more

$In response to a complaint made by Arsenal for life about illegal dumping activities occurring at Abati Primary School, Shasha Road, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, PhD the MD of LAWMA mobilised Waste Infractions Surveillance and Investigation Team to address and remediate the issue. As a result of the operation, over 25 individuals were apprehended, including six vehicle owners implicated in the disposal of large volumes of waste using their cars. Good evening Lagos, Our enforcement teams were active through the night and early hours of today to protect our environment and keep the city clean. At about 4:00am, 23-year-old Buhari Mohammed was arrested at Durosinmi-Etti in Lekki for vandalising the wire mesh at a canal. In Iyana Ipaja, LAWMA Enforcement apprehended 32-year-old Tunde Ola for dumping refuse on the road median. Also, Mr. Victor Nwachukwu (37) and Mr. Chibuike Eze (24) were arrested by LERA security and handed over to KAI personnel for dumping refuse directly into a drainage channel. These acts are serious environmental offences. We will continue to enforce the law without compromise because a clean, safe and healthy Lagos requires collective responsibility and strict compliance with regulations. #CleanerLagos #GreaterLagosRising

The operation commenced as scheduled and focused on clearing all illegal structures and dislodging unauthorised occupants from the affected corridor. Enforcement personnel maintained order throughout the exercise while ensuring that the median was restored for its intended public use and that the right-of-way was protected. As part of our sustained efforts to eliminate open defecation and improve public sanitation across Lagos State, we currently have 1,710 functioning public toilets strategically located across the state for residents and visitors. However, government cannot do this alone. We are encouraging businesses such as filling stations, banks, eateries, and other public-facing facilities to make their restrooms accessible to the public where possible. This collaborative approach will significantly complement government efforts and expand access to sanitation facilities across the state. At the same time, we continue to enforce environmental sanitation laws. Individuals caught engaging in open defecation are being arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law. These measures are necessary to protect public health, preserve dignity, and maintain a cleaner environment for all. Access to sanitation is a shared responsibility. While government continues to expand infrastructure, residents and businesses must also play their part in ensuring Lagos remains clean, safe, and habitable. #CleanerLagos #GreaterLagos

Let's address an obvious hypocrisy, shall we? Hello Mr. Tokunbo, Tokunbo Wahab, take a look at these two posts very carefully; One is a 56 years old man dumping refuse in the gutters, and the other are people who likely works for the govt, doing even worse by dumping garbage into the sea by throwing them over the bridge in the same Lagos. Now kindly explain to the public why the 56 years old man was arrested, but that of the govt officials was only addressed internally? Or the one being done at the bridge isn't a "violation of environmental laws" under your leadership?

Today, at about 9:30am, the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce continued its operation against hoodlums who have taken to the streets of Lagos and violently unleashed terror on drivers whose vehicles broke down, dispossessing them of their valuables as a means of livelihood. The operation covered Maryland and the entire length of Ikorodu Road where some undesirable elements numbering up to 6 were arrested and taken to the office for prosecution. While we continue to arrest and prosecute defaulters in accordance with the law, it is important to emphasise that lasting change goes beyond enforcement. Doing the right thing should not depend on the presence of enforcement officers. Environmental responsibility must become a personal and collective culture. Taking ownership of our environment means using available public toilets, discouraging open defecation, keeping public spaces clean, and holding one another accountable. A cleaner Lagos is not built only through enforcement, but through everyday decisions made by residents who understand that public hygiene protects everyone. When we act responsibly, even in the absence of enforcement teams, we move closer to building a cleaner, healthier, and more dignified Lagos for all. #CleanerLagos #GreaterLagos

Yesterday I visited my pen where I used to have over 150 pigs but is now empty, all investment lost, over 50 animals dead, and the premises that used to be busy become desolate. Dec 26, my staff at the farm site called—we lost a pig. I went there to check on see it. I knew it was already too late to act because Swine fever had already hit the farm🤦. Between then and Jan 6, my farm was wiped out by ASF (African Swine Fever), an incurable swine disease. Yesterday I visited my pen where I used to have over 150 pigs but is now empty, all investment lost, over 50 animals dead, and the premises that used to be busy become desolate. Dec 26, my staff at the farm site called—we lost a pig. I went there to check on see it. I knew it was already too late to act because Swine fever had already hit the farm🤦. Between then and Jan 6, my farm was wiped out by ASF (African Swine Fever), an incurable swine disease.
