Runner’s interference is called here to end the championship game. This is a tough call and it’s a call that can’t be reviewed. It’s all umpire discretion. A runner can be called out for interference if they hinder, impede, confuse, or obstruct a fielder who is attempting to make a play, even if no physical contact occurs. The last part is the biggest take away- physical contact does not need to occur in order for it to be interference. I teach my defenders to go through the runner if they need to so there’s zero confusion if a runner interferes. Tough ending to this game!

I’m all in on The Citadel. 3rd base coach essentially running to home plate with his base runner while simultaneously getting fired up. How can this not make you smile?

This runner at second base tried to steal third base. The catcher throws the ball down to the third base girl, she applies the tag and the runner is called out. The coach wanted obstruction on the third base girl. The 3rd base umpire said no obstruction. They ask for the home plate umpire’s help but he sticks with the call from the 3rd base umpire. When you look at it, the runner had a clear path to the bag but ran high and slid into the third base girl when if she had gone in more of a straight line would have made the tag harder. She didn’t try to slide into the base but rather the fielder imho. I say no obstruction and the right call was made. You make the call.

The runner collides with the third base umpire; What’s the call? Is the umpire out of position? What should the runner have done?

How is this not pass interference on Texas Tech, you can’t miss this call. Then Houston gets called for Pass Interference on the next drive. Gotta call the game both ways

This is a first that I’ve ever seen: challenging a call and you end up getting 3 strikes against you😅 Call on the field was out. Alabama challenged the call (obstruction on catcher) and ending up confirming the call was out, the runner at 3rd was ruled out because of the interference and then finally the runner going into home got a warning issues. You usually always see the catchers getting the short end of the stick but this time it’s the runner plus some.

The call was overturned and the base runner was ruled out on this walk-off. Have you ever seen this happen before? 😳 (via rounding3media/TT)

After a Mississippi State runner was called for leaving first base early, negating a 2-run HR, Bulldog assistant coach Tyler Bratton was... not happy with the call.

Did the Umpire make the correct call? I think he did. I don’t think the runner tried to hurt the catcher, looks like he was caught in between deciding to slide or not. The craziest thing is how bad the coaches argument is. What do you think?

I’m beyond confused with the base running here. Not only did the runner at 2nd tag, but so did the runner at 1st. Am I crazy?
