I was delighted to meet with representatives from Dubai’s cultural and creative sector during a workshop held in collaboration between Dubai Culture and Dubai Future Foundation. Together, we explored challenges, shared perspectives, and identified opportunities that will shape the future. Topkapı Emerald Dagger; also known as Timed Dagger or 4 Emerald Dagger or Nadir Shah’s Dagger... The lack of "feature design" is why so many products over time feel hollow or messy. This isn't visual design. This isn't architectural design. I thought that a short video lecture of what feature design is and a real case study of applying it in Ghostty would be helpful. Feature design is the planning step behind how you're going to solve one or more user problems with a product feature: what that feature looks like, how it feels, and not just how its going to tactically solve these specific problems, but how that solution is going to interface with the edges of other features that currently exist or are planned to exist in the future.

This is still one of the most extraordinary experiences I’ve ever had. Around 5:30 in the morning, while I was alone on a beach in Costa Rica, I came across a stranded dolphin. About six vultures were surrounding it, waiting for a chance to peck at its eyes, while the dolphin kept making sounds as if it were crying out for help. If anyone thinks I was weak for being scared in that moment, try imagining having to move a slippery 275-pound animal while it’s panicking and you know its life is at risk. It was a chaotic yet extraordinary moment that left a lasting mark on my life. Throughout the entire experience, I felt like the dolphin was trying to communicate with me. I don’t really know how to explain it, but I could sense its trust and, in some way, its gratitude that I was there and had helped keep it safe from the vultures.
