#WATCH | Guwahati: Special DGP, Assam, Harmeet Sigh says, "Noticed a group of Rohingyas who were travelling in a train from Tripura and had entered Assam...450 such illegal infiltrators were stopped and turned back with the help of border guarding forces. There was an operation launched by STF (Special Task Force) Assam, in July...Once questioning and inquiries took place it was very apparent that this is a matter which is a national security concern and has interstate ramifications. From day one the matter has been looked at and guided by our Chief Minister and the highest formations of the land were wise to decide that the case be sent to NIA and the Government of Assam requested the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India to transfer one of these cases to the NIA. The NIA took up the case and began an investigation. There's been a collaborative effort of the NIA with us and in this collaborative effort, we were able to put together a list of touts from across the country. Today morning in the wee hours an operation was launched across many states by the NIA with the Assam Police and a total of 47 such touts and middlemen who were running this racket have been caught. 25 from Tripura, 5 from Assam, 3 from West Bengal, 9 from Karnataka, 1 from Haryana, 1 from Telangana and 3 from Tamil Nadu..."

#WATCH | Assam is going to witness a historic moment today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will land at the Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) on Moran Bypass in Dibrugarh, where he will witness the aerial display of fighters, transports and helicopters. The ELF is the first of its kind in Northeast India. It has been specially designed and constructed in coordination with the Indian Air Force to support landing and take-off of military and civil aircraft during emergencies. It can follow the American model of multiple small wells with the participation of many entrepreneurs including start-ups. The key is exploration. Government is simplifying clearances by making them online and providing all the data available. An investment of around Rs 5cr to 10cr is possible to get started. And both loans and equity are available to raise the money. Producing more oil and gas domestically will help reduce vulnerability to import. It will also help provide cheaper oil and gas to the common man since the cost of production of oil in India is no more than $20 per barrel. Assam can also encourage the small or medium-sized chai bagan. New tea gardens may be free from regulations and other permissions, which will create jobs and entrepreneurs. Local farmers, and entrepreneurs should be encouraged to create boutique brands of superior quality that can conquer global markets. The vision of PM Narendra Modi and the energy of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma are going to make Assam a leading state.
