Mayor Katie Wilson's Office released a video statement on social media Thursday afternoon explaining the "real gaps" that have been uncovered in the city's communication strategies following the mass shooting at the Bite of Seattle on Sunday. "Good afternoon, Seattle, you deserve clarity about what's happened over these last few days," the mayor said at the beginning of the video. The mayor goes on to praise the Seattle Police Department's response to the shooting, and said she has full confidence in the department's ability to handle the ongoing investigation. However, she acknowledged the confusion Sunday as reporters had to wait nearly five hours for any communication from city leaders or police about the investigation. “I also know there are real questions about how the city communicated with the public," Wilson said in the video. “Our after action review of the city’s communications with the public and the media revealed real gaps."

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar Ishaq Dar Dar50 chaired the 6th meeting of the High-Level Committee for the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women, which will be hosted by Pakistan from 12–13 July 2026. The meeting reviewed the final phase of preparations, including the draft programme, conference agenda, protocol, security and logistical arrangements, media and communication strategy, inter-ministerial coordination, and other organizational matters. The Committee discussed measures to ensure the seamless conduct and successful hosting of the Conference, which will bring together 57 OIC Member States to strengthen cooperation on women's empowerment, inclusion, and sustainable development. The Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the progress made by the Ministry of Human Rights and also issued directions to all relevant stakeholders to maintain close coordination and ensure timely completion of the remaining arrangements. The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for IT& Telecommunications Shaza Fatima , SAPM Tariq Bajwa,Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, Secretary Human Rights Abdul Khaliq Shaikh and other senior officials.

Technology driven policing is our strongest weapon against the rising menace of cyber crime. Today I directed all Unit Officers to sharpen our performance across every national cyber security benchmark, our target is a top position in the national rankings. Reviewed Cyber Security, e-Zero FIR and CCTNS implementation with officers from all police units via VC. The Govt of India has flagged serious concern over the surge in cyber frauds, especially "Digital Arrest" scams, and the I4C periodically evaluates State-wise cyber security preparedness on nine Key Performance Indicators. I noted that e-Zero FIR implementation is yet to reach its full potential and directed officers to ensure effective rollout. Commended T-SPARK and TCSB for nearly 20 e-Zero FIRs registered in just 2 days. Our national standing leaves no room for complacency, 13th in e-Zero FIR, 18th in Money Restoration (46.6% recovery), 4th in GRM, 16th in Sahayog Portal, 6th in Samanvaya Portal, 16th in Social Media performance, 15th in Cyber Security, 8th in Capacity Building. I had the incredible honour of serving as the Master of Ceremonies at the inaugural global conference on Artificial Intelligence in Political Campaigns, held in Cape Town, South Africa this past week. With 130 delegates from almost 30 countries, I understand this event achieved two significant milestones: hosting the world's first political campaign expo and the first conference focused on AI in Political Campaigns. The conference explored pressing topics such as: - the role of AI in shaping modern political campaigns, - AI and big data in political campaigns, - navigating truth and deception in political communication in the AI era, - and the regulation of AI in political campaigns. These discussions shed light on Africa's readiness for this technological advancement and the unique challenges it presents, ensuring our continent's active participation in shaping the future of AI. It was particularly encouraging to see more than 20 African countries represented, including representatives of electoral management bodies and members of ruling and opposition parties all in one room. The theme of the conference was "Transforming Political Campaigns: How AI and Big Data Amplify Voter Engagement and Shape Political Campaigns in Africa". Supported by International IDEA, Afrobarometer, 22 @ Sloan, and Shikamo Political Advisory and Campaigns Services, the event brought together global experts in political campaigns, researchers and academics, policymakers, and tech giants to explore the potential of AI. The conference provided valuable insights into pressing issues and raised important questions regarding the regulation of a technology that is still developing; Africa's readiness to embrace AI; the impact of deepfake videos during elections especially in Africa; and the prioritisation of legislative efforts over adaptation to the African context - some attendees asked why people were more concerned with legislating the use of AI as opposed to adapting it to the African context and making it fit for purpose on the continent. With more than 60 elections taking place worldwide in 2024, including 24 in Africa, it promises to be an interesting year for electoral processes. The İPE initiative will continue, and we look forward to the next follow-up expo. So don’t miss IPE25 on the 23 & 24th January in Cape Town next year.

Thank you to Maria Sarrouh and Adam Atkinson of CHCH News CHCH TV for reporting on the John-Paul Danko fiasco in City of Hamilton #CDNPoli #ONPoli #CDNPolitics #YHMCC CC: SWAP - Sex Workers' Action Program Hamilton Inc. @YWCA_Hamilton Andrea Horwath I emphatically implore #HamOnt City Council to consider the potential impact that accepting the two sentences could have on residents and constituents in Hamilton and their willingness to participate in democratic processes. Processes for which there are standards for holding public officials to account for their words, actions, and conduct. These type of statements – that I used social media to “enhance my media presence and stature in the community” by IC David Boghosian is patently untrue. The norms and conventions of social media are being willfully discounted by these statements. How I acted fits with those norms and conventions on Twitter and has no relevancy to this report whatsoever. What I did was lawful. If I violated any rule unbeknownst to me, it has not been said or pointed out. The focus must be squarely on the councillor’s conduct and not the impugned resident and constituent – in this case, myself. Social media is a valid medium through which residents and constituents express themselves – it is not wrong, illegal, defamatory, exploitative, or criminal to draw attention to others’ misconduct on social media. This includes but is not limited to: city councillors, HWDSB school board trustees, police officers, social (service) workers, and regulated health professionals to name a few categories. As a Mohawk College News nursing student, I will be held to the standard of the @CollegeofNurses, and thus would be held to account by the public if I insulted a patient, for example, or wrote something defamatory (i.e. untrue) on social media about someone else. Statements like these need to be assessed critically through a human rights lens as per the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms Charter. Hamilton city council accepting the report in its entirety could have a silencing effect¹ and deter or censor residents and constituents (E. Noelle-Neumann, 1991) from being willing to express their statements, beliefs, and expressions² (Noelle-Neumann, E. 1991) if they experience or observe a lack of decorum or other unbecoming words, actions, or conduct from a public official. The Integrity Commissioner would not have even been able to make these statements had it been made by a third party. Those statements are not relevant or pertinent to the purview of the IC. We also need to understand the context: a Hamilton Police officer was also nominated the same night as myself, didn’t win one of the five @YWCA_Hamilton Women of Distinction awards, and then punitively withdrew their future fundraising proceeds from the YWCA Medora Uppal. When interviewed, the group of police who happen to be women (including Jo-Ann Savoie) made earlier commentary contradicted their later commentary in the media. They first said they were moving on to fundraiser for “other worthy organizations,” to @mr_lois_lane of CBC Hamilton and then directly quoted mycritical remarks as to why they withdrew the funding in later CHCH News interviews with Matt Ingram Given this, I implore the council to specifically ponder the potential muzzling effect that accepting those statements – particularly with regards to residents and constituents who have, do, or who may experience police violence. Thank you to Cameron Kroetsch for his salient commentary. To suggest I spoke out about Councillor Danko’s insult to raise my own pre-existing profile denies the reality that I did not speak out to raise my profile. In fact, speaking out may have very serious consequences for me (i.e. further targeting by the police). 2 months ago I was honoured to receive ‘excellence in public health communication’ award at the Global Health Awards held in the House of Commons. I made it very clear in my keynote speech & interview with Zee TV that the covid mRNA gene technology had overall done more harm than good. It was attended by leaders in the field of medicine, healthcare industry and politicians. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive including from Drs who were hearing about the evidence of independent reanalysis of Pfizer & Moderna trials for the first time. The aim was to make the public more compliant to authoritarian rule. In addition deliberate suppression of facts that threaten the bottom line of big Pharma from the public and smearing those who expose it are two mechanisms of how corporations exert their power therefore no one is immune to medical misinformation that damages individual and population health. As I alluded to in my talk on Saturday at Reform UK we will not be able to resolve the healthcare crisis and fix the #NHS until we understand and then correct all the ways scientific evidence is distorted by pathologically self interested commercial entities. Recognising this, the DMK Government led by Thiru. M.K.Stalin constituted the Economic Advisory Council in 2021. Conceived as a special initiative of the Finance Department under Dr. Dr P Thiaga Rajan (PTR), the Council brought together some of the world's most respected economists and policy experts to help Tamil Nadu navigate the economic challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and chart a path towards rapid, inclusive, and sustainable long-term growth. The Council comprised Nobel Laureate Prof. Esther Duflo, former RBI Governor Prof. Raghuram Rajan, former Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India Dr. Arvind Subramanian, development economist Prof. Jean Drèze, and former Union Finance Secretary Dr. S. Narayan. Deliberately designed to reflect different schools of thought on economics, development, welfare, and governance, each member was individually invited by Dr. PTR and accepted the invitation without prior knowledge of the other members who would eventually serve on the Council. The consensus strategy is covering entrepreneurs and investors on a podcast. All that has its own place but you don’t create cultural institutions or artifacts while following consensus strategies. I often think about how few cultural institutions get built that matter. They are usually decades in the making and when they arrive, they are timeless and etched in memory. Think about Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of Rings franchises that people are still culturally relevant decades on. How would one do that in the world of technology and venture capital? In recent memory, Mike has produced at least two cultural artifacts, HERETICON which was a conference for what was described as thought crime and now the show Mafia featuring celebrities in tech and venture that took over the Twitter/X timeline when it launched with millions of views and all of tech elite engaged. Everyone I met was talking about it for at least a month after and you can always rewatch it as a good holiday watch like you would replay your favorite TV show. I asked him about the making of Mafia, whether he will transition to player from moderator, how he thinks about creating these unique new cultural artifacts and what’s next (if it happens, it will be the wildest show of all time).
