The final link of the Santacruz–Chembur Link Road is now open, completing the integrated 10.30-km SCLR network between the Eastern Express Highway and the Western Express Highway. MMRDA’s vision of transforming Thane into a major mobility-led economic hub has crossed another crucial milestone, with pile foundation and pier construction work for the creek portion of the Gaimukh–Payegaon Bridge nearing completion. As per the latest update, piling work along the Thane Creek portion is now over 95% complete. Pier erection and pier-cap construction are also progressing rapidly, while work has advanced at both the Gaimukh and Paye–Payegaon ends of the project Overall, around 25% of the project has now been completed. The 6.5-km creek bridge is a key link in the multimodal mobility network being developed by MMRDA to transform connectivity across Thane and the wider region. The network brings together multiple road, metro rail and tunnel projects, planned as part of an integrated approach to regional mobility. The bridge will connect Gaimukh on Ghodbunder Road with Chinchoti and Payegaon, creating a more direct connection to Bhiwandi, Vasai and the northern parts of the MMR. Ghodbunder Road is already one of Thane’s busiest transport corridors, carrying traffic between the city, Mumbai’s western suburbs, Mira-Bhayandar and the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Highway. In the coming years, the network will expand further with the completion of several ongoing projects, strengthening connectivity across the city. The first phase of Metro Line 2B, spanning 5.6 km with five stations, is now operational from today. Once the rest of the phases are fully completed, this transformative project will seamlessly connect the East-West and North-South corridors, enabling smoother and more efficient travel across the city. Notably, this will be the first metro line to connect with the Harbour Line, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Mumbai’s integrated urban transport network. The e-Bhoomipujan of the innovative ‘Pod Taxi’ project was undertaken in the BKC area, marking a significant step towards strengthening last-mile connectivity. This automated system will enable commuters to reach within 100–150 metres of their destinations, enhancing convenience and efficiency. The Thane-Borivali Twin Tunnel Project is a landmark initiative that will significantly decongest Mumbai and Thane cities. Major Project Update: Thane Coastal Road-1 crosses 40% completion milestone in 14 months Thane Coastal Road-1 is advancing at a strong pace, with foundation work, pier-cap casting and I-girder erection progressing rapidly across the corridor. As of September 2, 40 per cent of the project's work has been completed, with 77% (332 of 426) working piles completed and 65% of piers (277/426) and 460 pier caps cast already. Let’s decide once and for all if the Great Highway will be a park or not. I’m putting this question on the ballot. Should the Great Highway remain what it was the past century? Or become an iconic oceanside park that defines San Francisco for the next 100 years? Details here: I believe that an oceanside park is good for our city. I’m also working hard to tackle traffic concerns. And I’m purposefully putting this on the ballot so voters have the final say. We’ve made the most of a part-time park on the weekends — from senior yoga to dragon dances, jazz performances to Halloween costumes on parade. Now we can make it full time and official. We can give San Franciscans a real coastal park with playgrounds, seating for ocean and sunset views, plazas for concerts and holiday celebrations, and anything we can imagine. We could call it the Great Sunset Park. This is a once-in-a-century opportunity to create something as essentially San Francisco as the Golden Gate Bridge. A park is not only a good time. It’s also good for the environment. The Great Highway is already becoming a road to nowhere. The Southern section is closing due to coastal erosion. Drivers will be forced to turn inland to make their way out of the city. So, what’s the solution? Work is underway to smooth the path for drivers down Lincoln and Sunset. By simply turning left on Lincoln instead of taking the next left at Sloat, we can create an amazing coastal park. The Embarcadero used to be a double decker freeway. Crissy Field used to be a military dump. That is unimaginable today. But the decision to tear down the Embarcadero freeway was controversial 35 years ago, just as the decision about the Great Highway is now. I wonder, will the Great Highway for cars become as forgotten as the old Embarcadero freeway? Will our kids and generations after them be able to imagine San Francisco without an oceanside park? Will we be the lucky ones who get to create this joyful place that will define San Francisco for the next century? We get to decide this November. In just 5 years, we planned and initiated 372 Km of metro, out of which 150 Km is now delivered. With each passing year, we will continue expanding and delivering more, ensuring a stronger and more connected Maharashtra. Being recognized for water conservation is a significant achievement. In 2014, 14 schemes were executed by 6 different departments. We streamlined them into one scheme, one leader, and one department, launching the ambitious 'Jalyukt Shivar' initiative. Our goal was to make 25,000 villages drought-free, and the Marathwada region saw a significant rise in water levels. In the 2020 Government of India's Groundwater Report, Maharashtra was the only state to show improvement compared to others. This award also recognizes investments, and once again, Maharashtra has become the top destination for FDI. This year, we have broken all previous records—surpassing our own ₹31,000 crore investment milestone from 2016-17. In just 9 months, we have secured ₹1.39 lakh crore in investments, with 50% of the country's FDI flowing into Maharashtra. Today, Maharashtra stands as the new startup capital of India. We are dedicated to reviving Mumbai’s glory and propelling Maharashtra to unmatched greatness!
