Here's the two-part Vikhroli Bridge Review with some suggestions on how things can be improved! Tested it during peak morning hours. PART 1 - EEH TO VIKHROLI BRIDGE. DISTANCE: 300 Metres TRAVEL TIME: 20 mins, 39 secs Yes, this is not the bridge itself. But this key stretch, which leads to the bridge, gets jammed because the bridge itself is jammed! It took 20 minutes and 39 seconds just to reach the starting point of the bridge from the EEH ramp at an average speed of 0.87 km/h for 300 metres! Also towards the end of the video, you will spot some 2-wheelers coming from the other side of the bridge, taking a U-Turn to go towards Tagore Nagar and blocking the cars trying to enter the bridge from the EEH side. Yes, the Traffic Police were stationed at the entry managing the traffic, but they seemed helpless and clueless.

Finally experienced the Missing Link/ Connecting Link on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. • Crossing the entire ghat section now takes just 8-10 minutes. Unreal considering it used to take hours sometimes. • The tunnel is massive, 4 lanes + service lanes inside. • The bridge section is genuinely an infrastructure marvel. • Found a hidden spot in Lonavala from where we could see the entire Missing Link from far away. Beautiful view. As someone who regularly travels between Pune and Mumbai, this is going to make a huge difference. Now just waiting for Navi Mumbai Airport international flights to start.

This is all getting ridiculous now — 11 YEARS to build a simple bridge👇 You’ll have probably seen the bizarre concept art for the new pedestrian bridge between Steeton and Silsden. The deliberate over-complication of this project has frankly been stunning. ➡️ Let's remind ourselves it has now been 9 YEARS since £700,000 was given by our Conservative Government to local Labour-run authorities for a feasibility study. ➡️ It then took Labour 4 years to produce a report which concluded: ‘We need a bridge’. ➡️ Funds were then allocated for this project in 2021 by the previous Conservative government. ➡️ Yet local authorities have sat on their hands and allowed the cost of this project to spiral from £3 million to £13 million. And that’s just for the bridge itself, with the total cost of the scheme when you include plans for pedestrian and cycle paths and more road crossings totalling £24 million ➡️ They are now saying the bridge will not be completed until 2027 - 11 YEARS since money was first given!! 🤔 For reference, the Prince of Wales Bridge — the Second longest bridge in the UK — took just 6 and a half years to plan and build. It is high time for both Bradford Council and the West Yorkshire Mayor to stop dithering and delaying, and to crack on and get our much Silsden to Steeton bridge built. All we want is a simple bridge. It shouldn’t be this difficult.

Redefining Connectivity: Mumbai’s Journey Towards Integrated Mobility Delighted to inaugurate, flag off, and unveil the stone plaque of 'Metro Line 9: Dahisar (East) to Kashigaon (Phase-1)', ‘Metro Line 2(B) Deshbhakt N. G. Acharya Udyan - Diamond Garden to Maharashtra Nagar, Mandale (Phase-1), and e-Bhoomipujan of the Automated Rapid Transit System (Pod Taxi) Project for Bandra-Kurla Complex, and the launch of 'Tunnel Boring Machine - Nayak' for the 'Thane-Borivali Underground Tunnel Project' in Mumbai, marking a significant step towards seamless connectivity and transformative urban mobility. Metro services have commenced today on the 4.7 km corridor from Dahisar East to Kashigaon, with four stations along the route, enhancing connectivity and making travel between Mumbai and Mira-Bhayandar faster and more convenient. This project, with an investment of approximately ₹6607 crore, will reduce the current travel time from 1-2 hours to nearly 30 minutes. In the upcoming phases, this corridor will be integrated with Metro Line 3, enabling seamless travel from Mira-Bhayandar to Colaba. With over 100 kilometres of metro lines now operational, Mumbai has emerged as the second-largest metro network in the country after Delhi. In the coming years, the network will expand further with the completion of several ongoing projects, strengthening connectivity across the city. The first phase of Metro Line 2B, spanning 5.6 km with five stations, is now operational from today. Once the rest of the phases are fully completed, this transformative project will seamlessly connect the East-West and North-South corridors, enabling smoother and more efficient travel across the city. Notably, this will be the first metro line to connect with the Harbour Line, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Mumbai’s integrated urban transport network. The e-Bhoomipujan of the innovative ‘Pod Taxi’ project was undertaken in the BKC area, marking a significant step towards strengthening last-mile connectivity. This automated system will enable commuters to reach within 100–150 metres of their destinations, enhancing convenience and efficiency. The Thane-Borivali Twin Tunnel Project is a landmark initiative that will significantly decongest Mumbai and Thane cities. Spanning 11.84 km, including a 10.25 km twin tunnel stretch, this transformative corridor is designed for efficiency and safety, featuring two traffic lanes and one emergency lane in each tunnel. Back in 2014, we dreamt of a transformative highway that would redefine connectivity and prosperity in Maharashtra. Today, that dream stands realised! This is more than just a road — it’s Maharashtra’s Economic Lifeline. Aptly named after Hinduhrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray, this Samruddhi Mahamarg has now seamlessly connected 24 districts directly to JNPT. And soon, it will extend further to the upcoming Vadhavan Port — unlocking unprecedented economic potential for our state. Samruddhi Mahamarg will not just serve as a route for travel, but will become the backbone of Maharashtra’s economic development. The extensive machinery involved in this project was also specially appreciated. Built at a cost of ₹55,335 crore, this 701-kilometre-long expressway was completed in record time. A huge mobility leap for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. India’s largest and longest urban road tunnel, the Thane–Borivali Twin Tunnel Project, has just crossed a historic milestone. MMRDA has successfully completed the Thane-side portal excavation and lowered the 13.34-metre single-shield Tunnel Boring Machine cutterhead, the largest ever deployed in India for an urban infrastructure project. This milestone signals the start of the actual tunnelling phase of this pathbreaking project. The 11.8-kilometre underground twin tunnel will seamlessly connect Thane’s Ghodbunder Road with the Western Express Highway in Borivali, cutting travel time from 60–90 minutes to just 15 minutes, and redefining how lakhs of Mumbaikars move. Passing beneath the eco-sensitive Sanjay Gandhi National Park, the tunnels are being built using the most advanced TBM technology to ensure safe, efficient and eco-friendly construction with minimal ground disturbance. Each tunnel will feature three lanes, including a dedicated emergency lane, with cross-passages every 300 metres. The tunnels will be equipped with advanced ventilation systems, modern firefighting equipment, smoke detectors and illuminated LED signboards. Once completed, this landmark project will drastically reduce travel time, ease congestion, lower emissions and deliver a faster, cleaner and smarter commute for citizens. From Coastline to Connectivity, Shaping Mumbai’s Landscape Inspected the ongoing work of the 'Mumbai Coastal Road Project North' today, reshaping a faster, greener and better-connected city. Designed to provide seamless connectivity from Nariman Point and Marine Drive to the western suburbs, Bhayandar, Thane, and beyond, this landmark project aims to reduce traffic congestion, travel time, and pollution. This corridor will also be extended up to Virar and the Vadhavan Port, Palghar in the future. Travel time from Versova to Dahisar is expected to reduce from 120–140 minutes to just 15–20 minutes. Additionally, an elevated connector from the coastal road to the upcoming Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) will further strengthen Mumbai's transport network. The Mumbai Coastal Road North (MCRN) Extension from Versova to Bhayandar features innovative engineering elements, including double elevated roads, roads on stilts in mangrove areas, 2 cable-stayed bridges, 4 basket-type bridges, twin underground tunnels, and 10 interchanges. Spread across seven packages A, B, C, D, E, F, and DBLR, the project covers 26.32 km of main road and 32.94 km of interchanges, connectors, and ramps. The project is expected to create employment opportunities, lower vehicle operating costs, and support regional growth, with an Economic Rate of Return (ERR) of 11%. Sustainability is central to the project, with a strong focus on carbon neutrality, while the CM War Room closely monitors progress to keep the project on schedule. The project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by nearly 48%, contributing significantly to a cleaner urban environment. Mangrove conservation remains a priority, with the Maharashtra Government actively expanding and protecting mangrove cover through plantations and dedicated parks.
