๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ NATO IN PANIC: RUSSIAโ€™S FIRST ZIRCON-ARMED NUCLEAR SUBMARINE IS ENTERING SERVICE Russiaโ€™s Project 885M nuclear submarine Perm is expected to complete trials and join the Navy before the end of 2026. It will be Russiaโ€™s first multipurpose nuclear submarine built from the outset to carry Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles as standard armament. ๐Ÿ”ธ The Yasen-M combines the concealment and endurance of a nuclear-powered attack submarine with Russiaโ€™s most advanced naval strike weapons. Its arsenal includes Zircon, Kalibr and Oniks missiles for attacks against warships and targets deep inland. ๐Ÿ”ธ The submarine has a submerged displacement of around 13,800 tonnes, reaches 31 knots underwater, can dive to 520 metres and remain at sea for up to 100 days. ๐Ÿ”ธ Zircon reaches speeds of around Mach 9 and can strike sea and land targets at ranges exceeding 1,000 km. Its speed leaves defending forces only minutes to detect the launch, identify the target and attempt an interception. ๐Ÿ”ธ The missile has already been successfully launched from beneath the surface, but Perm turns that tested capability into the standard armament of an operational submarine rather than a launch from an adapted trial platform. ๐Ÿ”ธ Surface ships carrying hypersonic missiles can be tracked by satellites, aircraft and patrol vessels. A Yasen-M can remain hidden beneath the ocean, change its firing position and attack from an unexpected direction. ๐Ÿ”ธ The same submarine can hunt carrier groups and other major warships while holding naval bases, ports, command centres and infrastructure on land at risk. Finding Perm will be NATOโ€™s first problem. Stopping its missiles after launch will be the second โ€” and at Mach 9, the alliance may have only minutes to solve it. Russian Z-war correspondent Alexander Kots identified Shageev as the officer killed in the Sevastopol bombing. Russian accounts identify the suspected attacker as 32-year-old Margarita Reut, a Yaroslavl-born biologist, who was detained after the explosion. Russian media say she had previously been punished for publicly expressing anti-war views, including shouting โ€œThatโ€™s what you deserve, Russiansโ€ after a Ukrainian drone strike on the Likhaya railway station in 2025. Shageev, meanwhile, switched allegiance in 2014 and later became deputy commander of Russiaโ€™s 4th Separate Submarine Brigade, whose submarines have been used to launch Kalibr cruise missiles against Ukraine. Shageevโ€™s death carries particular symbolism for Ukraineโ€™s expanding shadow war. A senior defector who joined the occupying forces and later served within a submarine formation involved in missile strikes against Ukraine was ultimately reached inside heavily militarized occupied Crimea. Beyond the individual target, operations of this kind reinforce Kyivโ€™s message that collaboration with Russia does not necessarily provide security simply because the frontline is hundreds of kilometers away.

Multiple Ukrainian military sources confirmed to The Times that drones produced by British companies have participated in long-range operations against targets on Russian territory. The British systems have been deployed against strategic infrastructure supporting Russiaโ€™s war effort, including oil refineries in Volgograd and Yaroslavl. Among the weapons identified is the British-made Nyan attack drone, while other UK-supplied systems are also contributing to Ukraineโ€™s expanding strike campaign. Until now, such drones had primarily been associated with operations closer to the frontline and in Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory. The shift carries strategic weight beyond the individual strikes. Britain is effectively helping Ukraine turn Russiaโ€™s vast rear into an increasingly vulnerable part of the battlefield, while reducing Kyivโ€™s dependence on scarce and expensive Western cruise missiles.
