Adeeba Baloch, daughter of forcibly disappeared Zaheer Baloch, who was enforcedly disappeared by Pakistani forces on 13 April 2015, has now staged a sit-in (dharna) late at night on Panjgur CPEC Road and this time for the safe release of her brother, Zeeshan Baloch, who has now also been forcibly disappeared by state-backed death squad on 29, June 2025. Zeeshan and his family had been actively struggling for their father’s release and now Zeeshan himself has been enforcedly disappeared by the same state that refused them justice. This crisis is escalating daily. It is no longer limited to men; women are also being forcibly disappeared and held in torture cells. The Pakistani state shows no sign of relenting in its targeting of the Baloch. Because of this, every single instance of enforced disappearance or extrajudicial killing especially those not yet registered with any official organisation must be documented immediately. It is the responsibility of the families to ensure these cases are recorded. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee is currently working on this documentation process. We urge everyone to contact the BYC to register their cases via: 1: Social Media Accounts 2: Official Email 3: BYC Human Rights Representatives. We request that you submit these cases as soon as possible. We know from experience that when a case is not registered or part of a formal record, and that person is subsequently killed and dumped, the family and the organisation are left without the necessary evidence to prove they were forcibly disappeared. Registration is our primary tool for accountability. When we speak to the international community about the Baloch Genocide including harassment, torture, disappearances, and psychological trauma, we must be backed by a comprehensive record of every story and every case. On this International Human Rights Day, BYC Central Member Sammi Deen Baloch states that Balochistan continues to face one of the gravest human rights crises of our time. Decades of systematic violence, fear, and repression have left deep psychological and socio-political wounds on the people of Balochistan. The suffering of the people of Balochistan remains largely ignored by the international community and by those organisations that call themselves champions of human rights. According to the BYC Human Rights Department, enforced disappearances have reached alarming levels, with 1,080 cases reported this year alone, including 53 minors. Disturbingly, Pakistani authorities are now targeting women and girls; 12 girls were forcibly disappeared in 2025, of whom three remain missing, and 189 extrajudicial killings were reported, including six women. Pakistani military operations, drone attacks, mortar shelling, artillery fire, and other assaults have become daily practices of the rogue paramilitary forces, resulting in the displacement of entire villages and small towns across the province. She highlights that human rights activists are the beacon of hope for oppressed people. Yet in Balochistan, human rights defenders are threatened, charged in fabricated cases, and hundreds of students and teachers face false accusations and FIRs for peaceful activism. Freedom of speech and expression is treated as a crime. BYC condemns the use of force against the family members of Zaheer Baloch and other peaceful protesters in the strongest terms. Today, the 11-day sit-in protest by the families of forcibly disappeared Baloch individuals was attacked by the forces when they were marching towards the Red Zone. Elderly men, women, and children were subjected to brutal violence, including live firing. Dozens of protesters were taken into custody and shifted to unknown locations. For decades, the state institutions' response to peaceful demonstrations has been violence and intimidation. The forced disappearances and genocide of the Baloch people continue, and when the families and civil society protest, they are treated with cruelty, beaten, dragged, and imprisoned. After facing severe crackdown, the protesters have reorganized and continued their protest. We urge the Baloch and Pashtun people to join the protest as soon as possible and call on the judiciary to intervene in this matter to safeguard the right to peaceful assembly of these already victimized people.

In March, I submitted a video statement for the 58th Session of the Human Rights Council, which is now available on UN Web TV: Despite international attention, including statements by UN Special Rapporteurs, the Pakistani state continues its campaign of oppression against the Baloch people. Our peaceful struggle for justice and human rights has been met with increased brutality. Today, more than 200 of our fellow activists, including prominent leaders such as Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Shahji Baloch, and Beebarg Baloch, are being held in illegal detention. We urge all international human rights organizations and the global community to continue raising their voices against these grave injustices.
