The Camp of the Saints played out in real time yesterday as nearly 50,000 Moroccans invaded the Spanish enclave of Ceuta on the North African coast. The immediate stimulus was likely Spain’s recent amnesties, both from the Spanish Supreme Court in June and from Pedro Sanchez’s government in April. Those amnesties are but an epiphenomenon of a deeper cause, however: Western elites’ belief that the West is the source of the world’s suffering. The resulting demographic replacement will continue until we acknowledge and act on the truth: our civilization is the most successful in human history and must be defended. From my address at the Sun Valley Policy Forum earlier this month.

Why teen takeovers? For years, we’ve been told that the reason that blacks are overrepresented in the juvenile justice system and in school discipline cases is racism. The Obama and Biden Justice Departments sued school districts for civil rights violations if they disciplined black students at higher rates than white students. The reality: These allegedly docile, well-behaved youth commit homicide at 10 times the rate of whites. The same lack of socialization that produces astronomical rates of black gun violence results in insubordinate behavior in school. The schools are not racist; the students are out of control. But the lack of consequences breeds more lawless behavior and the excuse-making continues.

Teen takeovers are the predictable result of an elite culture that excuses public disorder and crime as a reaction to white supremacy. Parents of white male students are waking up to the fact that their children are the last to be chosen for medical school, law school, and other graduate programs. MCAT scores that would be disqualifying for a white or Asian medical school applicant are close to an automatic admit if submitted by a black student. Of course blacks should seek postgraduate training—but on the same basis as everyone else. It does them no favors to be catapulted into academic environments for which they are not prepared.

The left has decided that if an employer administers a test and black applicants fail at higher rates than white applicants, that amounts to discrimination and the test must be thrown out. The concept of disparate impact is the greatest weapon against merit and excellence.

“Sexist” gatekeepers are not keeping females out of tech fields or preventing them from founding companies. The VC world is desperate to back female entrepreneurs—if it could only find them. The leaders of AI and other tech ventures remain overwhelmingly male not because of “the patriarchy” but because males on average are driven to take risks, to compete, and to expand the boundaries of knowledge through obsessive exploration and work—far more than the average female.

Women overwhelmingly value equity and emotional safety over the pursuit of truth and academic freedom. Men are the opposite. It's going to take more parents standing up for their sons and fewer CEOs being browbeaten by their wives to stop the feminization of universities and society at large.

Lowering standards for black and female students results in those students entering into an academic environment they are not qualified for. Then, when they fall behind, they are told it is because of racism or the patriarchy. It is cruel to admit these unqualified students so that administrators get more diverse photos on their college website.

The female crack-up continues. After having flocked to pro-Hamas protests in favor of murderers and misogynists, females are now obstructing federal officers in Minneapolis and elsewhere, oblivious to the rule of law. The more feminized the culture, the less it will be guided by reason.

There are parts of NYC that have very little private commerce. It's just one nonprofit after another getting taxpayer dollars to try and engage in some social uplift program that has no effect whatsoever, because the people working there are one baby step ahead in terms of social functioning from their clients. It's a way to hire people that are basically un-hirable—their only "merit" is that they've been in jail.

I reject the term "affirmative action." When it arose in the 1960s, it included innocuous practices like doing more outreach and advertising jobs in a broader range of places. There are still people who are misguided about what "affirmative action" means. Let's just say what we're really talking about—lowering standards and giving preference to one race over another.

Youth culture was a product of capitalism, thanks to the enormous riches that the free market strewed even upon shallow adolescents. But we are not the victims of free enterprise. No one is forcing us to buy its less uplifting products. Parents can, and should, supply their children with beauty and high culture. I debate corporate power, anti-trust law, and the usefulness of a conservative attack on big business with Winston Marshall:

Another ludicrous misuse of academic resources: bureaucratically-curated "dialogues across differences." Colleges should be cramming knowledge into their students' empty brains, not overseeing politically correct conversations about the ephemera of the moment. I discussed the betrayal of the universities and Trump’s halting efforts to reform them with Northwestern’s Young Americans for Freedom Chapter last week. Thank you to Caleb Nunes and YAF at Northwestern for hosting me.
