ANDURIL GHOST-X PARTNERSHIP We continue to seek out emerging technology to enhance our operational capabilities and better serve our community. Recently, we hosted a live demonstration of the Ghost-X, an advanced unmanned aircraft system (UAS) designed to expand operational capabilities. This man-portable, autonomous, expeditionary platform allows, extended range and multi -payload adaptability for complex environments. Developed as a dual-use and modular UAS platform, we are exploring the opportunity to adapt this technology for public safety use in partnership with Anduril Industries . Training with this aircraft is scheduled to begin next month. As shown in the video, the aircraft is ruggedized and weather resistant, built to enhance situational awareness and mission flexibility in the challenging conditions we encounter. Stay tuned as we continue to evaluate and improve safety, efficiency, and response capabilities. Contact: Captain Shawn Millerick, Public Information Officer Smillerick@sbcfire.org

Tesla Joins San Bernardino County Fire to Train for the Future in Renewable Energy Safety SAN BERNARDINO, CA – San Bernardino County Fire in partnership with Tesla hosted a west coast training event designed to prepare first responders for the evolving challenges presented by modern energy systems. Over the course of two days, fire and law enforcement agencies, public safety stakeholders, and towing professionals from across the region gathered at the San Bernardino Regional Emergency Training Center to engage in hands-on training with Tesla’s suite of energy and vehicle products. Participants explored Tesla’s ecosystem firsthand, including electric vehicles, Megapack, Powerwall, Solar systems, and Supercharging infrastructure. Tesla engineers and product teams were on site to demonstrate current and next-generation products while facilitating discussions on responder and public safety. “Tesla reached out and said they wanted to bring in their engineers, their teams, and actual Tesla products, not just what’s on the road today, but what’s coming tomorrow,” said Fire Chief Dan Munsey. “This training gave our firefighters a chance to engage directly with the technology, ask the tough safety questions, and talk through the best ways to keep both responders and the public safe as the renewable energy industry continues to grow.” The event marked the first time Tesla has held this type of training event on the west coast. The only previous event of its kind was hosted in New York City with FDNY. Tesla brought production models, prototypes, and a full suite of energy storage components to the training grounds. The goal was clear: help first responders safely navigate incidents involving electric vehicles and energy systems with confidence and precision. With the increasing adoption of clean energy and electric transportation, San Bernardino County Fire is taking a proactive stance in ensuring public and first responder safety. The Tesla training event exemplified a forward-thinking approach, placing San Bernardino County Fire at the forefront of modern hazard mitigation and emergency readiness. San Bernardino County Fire is committed to preparedness, innovation, and forward thinking in response to the new challenges and emerging technologies we will be facing in the future.

Our hearts are with everyone affected, and our crews remain committed to supporting the community during this difficult time. Throughout the night, more than 120 personnel will continue operations to assist residents who need help evacuating and to address ongoing life safety concerns. We are grateful to report that there has been one reported injury, minor in nature, involving a pediatric patient who was transported to a local hospital as a precaution. San Bernardino County Fire remains in unified command with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The incident name was changed as the area affected expanded outside of the boundaries of Wrightwood and is now the “December Storms” Incident. SBCoFD would like to thank our cooperators for their continued support and unified efforts. The Care and Reception Center at Silverado High School is closed as of 7:30 p.m. A new shelter location has been established at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds, located at 14800 Seventh St. in Victorville. SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY FIREFIGHTERS SAVE CHILD FROM BURNING HOME Today at 11:15 a.m., the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District responded to a residential structure fire located on the 1300 block of N. Valencia Avenue in the City of San Bernardino. The initial engine arrived in six minutes and reported a single story residence, well involved with smoke and fire. Shortly after arrival, residents informed fire crews that their daughter, who has access and functional needs, was trapped inside the home. In response to the life-threatening update, firefighters shifted their strategy from fire suppression to search and rescue. A team was able to locate the child in a bedroom and safely passed her through a window to fellow firefighters outside. She was subsequently taken to awaiting firefighter/paramedics and transported to a local hospital, where she was reported to be in serious but stable condition. Additionally, a family dog was successfully rescued from the premises. Seven engines, one truck company, one medic squad, and three chief officers, totaling 30 personnel deployed to the scene. This incident underscores the effectiveness of rigorous training, teamwork, and the enhanced staffing levels implemented in the City of San Bernardino. Last year, staffing levels were increased to four personnel on all trucks, and an additional medic squad was added. These enhancements were crucial during this response, as the captain from the assigned truck was able to perform the rescue and hand off the child to the medic squad, who provided immediate emergency medical care. The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District would like to remind residents to keep bedroom doors closed, especially when someone is sleeping inside. The closed bedroom door helped prevent smoke and flames from causing major injuries, providing enough time for emergency crews to locate the child without any significant burns or airway injuries. Date/Time: Monday, February 3, 2025 11:15am Location: 1300 block of N. Valencia Avenue, San Bernardino Incident: Residential Structure Fire With Rescue Contact: Christopher Prater, Public Information Officer (714)319-7316

September Incident - Morning Incident Update The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District remains in unified command with CAL FIRE BDU on the September Incident. Overnight, crews remained committed to the incident. At this time, there are still no reported injuries or missing persons. We would like to thank all of our cooperating agencies for the strong collaborative effort demonstrated throughout this operation. Last night, Caltrans District 8 worked diligently to clear Highway 38, providing access to those who had been stranded on Highway 38. At this time, no known motorists remain stranded; however, assessment teams and field crews are continuing to search the area to ensure no other parties are in need of assistance. CAL FIRE, CHP Inland Division, SBCoPublicWorks, and other partners remain engaged in clearing roads and improving access. The SBCounty, San Bernardino County OES (Ready San Bernardino County) and California OES (California Governor's Office of Emergency Services) are also closely involved, and we are grateful for their early support in helping to accelerate the recovery process. With daylight, crews will gain a clearer picture of the full extent of damage to roads, infrastructure, and homes. San Bernardino County Fire’s Damage Assessment Team, along with San Bernardino County Building & Safety, will work throughout the day evaluating impacted structures and will assist in determining the extent of property loss. The National Weather Service (NWS San Diego) has forecast a chance of thunderstorms today in the San Bernardino County mountains and deserts. We urge all residents to avoid the affected areas of the September Incident. Conditions remain hazardous due to the potential for new slides, falling trees and utility poles, impassable roads, and dangerous debris. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Aviation will be conducting aerial reconnaissance throughout the day and is equipped with hoist capabilities should rescue operations be necessary. The next update will be provided this evening unless significant changes occur.
