Unreal Engine's built-in VFX system, Niagara, can be used to create cinematic effects that run completely in real-time. In this example focused on Automotive visualization, Jesse Pitela(Jesse Pitela) is layering thousands of GPU particles for snow flakes, meshes for ice chunks, and a Niagara Fluids smoke simulation on top, to show the car interacting with its environment❄️

Hundreds of light sources with MegaLights greatly improve the visual fidelity of everything from environment destruction to volumetrics and muzzle flashes. The team were also able to iterate faster and increase per pixel-visual complexity without compromising resolution or framerate.

UE6 is about evolving how we ship and operate games. As UE5 and UEFN merge into one editor, you’ll be able to ship as you do today in Fortnite, or ship your own ecosystem and make it compatible with ours. UE6 will keep doing the things you want an Unreal Engine to do. Rendering will keep getting better. Cook times will come down. Iteration loops will get tighter. We plan to release UE6 in Early Access at the end of 2027… ISH:
