Keep the hands on the inside but make sure the club head remains outside the hands on the backswing. Ben Hogan taught me this over 60 years ago and I didnt realise what it would do for my game until well after my professional career. I hope it helps your game. GP #PXGTroops

A bad putt is better than a good chip. I love this saying because it is so often accurate. There is no need to hit the ball high unless you need to go over a trap or hazard. GP #PXGTroops

I have learnt to understand that golf is about minimizing your misses. On the tee, I aim up the right and I do everything to hit a draw. It gives me confidence knowing that I then have the entirety of the fairway to play with. If I hit a small draw, I end up on the right side of the fairway. If I hit a big draw, I end up on the left side of the fairway. If you aim up the middle, you double your room for error. Lesson is to learn the way you shape the ball and then make it work for you. #PXGTroops

Ben Hogan said, “Any time you hit a straight shot, it’s a fluke.” You got to either draw or fade the ball. Don’t ever try to hit it straight. You can stand on the practice tee and hit 30 balls, if you hit 10 straight, you’re doing pretty well. But if you follow your swing, you can draw or fade all 30. GP #PXGTroops

When your ball is sitting on a tight lie close to the green and there is nothing between you and the hole, don’t make the game more difficult than it needs to be. Forget the fancy chip, take your putter and keep the ball on the ground. I believe a bad putt is more often better than a good chip. GP #PXGTroops

Wet grass demands can massively impact your shot. It is imperative that you keep the club face dry to minimise the impact of a wet ball and fairway. How do you deal with wet fairways? GP #PXGTroops

I believe the mistake most golfers make is that they try to hit a straight ball. Hogan said hitting it straight was a “fluke”. If you aim up the right side and draw it or vice versa, then you make the fairway as big as possible. If you aim up the middle, you then you cut the fairway in half. This means a shot that draws too much ends up in the rough on the left and a ball that fades too much ends up in the right rough. The game is tough enough, so try to give yourself as much advantage as possible. GP #PXGTroops

The most difficult thing to do in golf is to keep your head still until you hear the ball (hopefully) drop into the cup. Honestly, I picked mine up too early on this putt. Concentrate on a specific mark or dimple. Train your mind as improving your putting is the easiest way to lower your average score. GP #PXGTroops

I typically end my workouts on the treadmill, gradually building up from a brist walk to a sprint. This was from a few years ago before I left on an overnight flight and I always exercise before traveling. Most importantly, it’s all about making sure your mind tells your body it can still move fast! GP

Recognising green speeds isn’t just a technical detail, it’s the difference between saving par and surrendering strokes. It teaches discipline, touch and imagination, all of which are essential to scoring. If golfers spent as much time studying pace as they do line, they would see remarkable improvement in their short game. GP #PXGTroops

I so rarely see amateurs hit the ball past the flag. So, my tip for the day is to always lean towards hitting the higher club. Trying to hit the ball past the hole will lead to better scoring. GP #PXGTroops

Golf isn’t played on perfect grass every time. Bad bounces are part of the game and the great players accept that. When you find yourself on a tough, elevated lie surrounded by dirt, rocks, or sticks, don’t try to be a hero. The goal is simple, give yourself a chance to save par. Remember, it’s not the shot you wanted, it’s the shot you’ve got. Stay calm, play smart, and you’ll turn those bad breaks into brilliant recoveries. That’s the mark of a smart golfer. GP #PXGTroops

Out of the bunker, choking down on the club can be a tremendous help, especially when the ball sits in a tight lie or when you want more control over the strike. It shortens the swing arc, keeps the hands steady, and helps you deliver the clubhead precisely where it needs to enter the sand. GP #PXGTroops

I continue to try to teach my grandkids that you have to play under the wind. If you hit it high, you will cry. There was nobody better than Trevino when it was windy, he could hit a 4-iron from a 100 yards. A genius. This is the 14th at Maidstone. My first time playing the course and what a magnificent course it is. Is 14 a candidate for the best par 3’s in the world?

One of the greatest keys to power and consistency in the golf swing is learning how to properly rotate through the ball. Initiating the downswing is one of the most important tools in consistent golf. It is something I have worked on virtually every day of my life, from hitting balls as a young boy in South Africa to competing against the best players in the world. GP #PXGTroops
