Simone Biles loves being in anterior pelvic tilt & low back extension... Considered one of the greatest gymnasts of all time. How many more examples do you need?

This is the most extreme example of what training sprints, jumps & power will yield you. The ability to contract & relax your muscles rapidly will NOT be developed by bodybuilding or lifting heavy weights slowly. Strength is one piece, but you need to learn how to produce force FAST & Explosively.

Lu Raises are an S Tier shoulder & rotator cuff exercise. It's not a coincidence its used by Chinese Olympic Weightlifting - athletes who need INSANE overhead stability & mobility. The key is to let your shoulder blades glide & don’t pin them back & down.

Rock Climbers have freakish shoulder function. Being able to catch your entire bodyweight with 3 fingers, overhead requires incredibly shoulder mechanics. Get a lot of training inspiration when it comes to grip training from these athlete's too.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that no olympic level judoka is doing this dumb shit. The olympic level judo players I know personally are squatting, benching doing heavy cleans as 80% of their training. 'Functional training' titty twisting a suspended gi is peak idiocy.

The fluidity, coordination, mobility & kinaesthetic intelligence you develop from high level shadowboxing is unmatched. Most modern gyms do not do enough of it. This clip is far more impressive than any 315lb bench press attempt.

Your spine isn't made of glass. It's not fragile. It's not weak. It’s UNTRAINED. A masterclass in building an unbreakable back (THREAD + FULL EXERCISE DEMONSTRATIONS):

George Saint Pierre: MMA Training Pyramid. It baffles me that even one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, emphasises how important the PHYSICAL component of fighting & preparation is. Yet I run polls & ask fighters or hobbyists: "How do you prepare physically for combat sports?" And they will not have a clear - definitive answer, especially when it comes to strength & conditioning. It makes life even harder when you have skills coaches trying to be strength & conditioning coaches. And vice versa. This is why the best athlete's have a TEAM. George Saint Pierre was someone who was always cross training, learning from gymnastics, athletics, olympic weight lifting etc. Combat sports is arguably one of the most physically demanding sports that exists. And especially if you are a hobbyist, and all you have done is a bro split / push, pull, legs. You are going to be severely underprepared for the demands of combat. I say all of this to say. If you have any interest in martial arts - you need to invest the time into learning how to train in and out of the gym, to minimise injury, maximise performance, and build a martial arts journey that has longevity. You should be spending a lot more time than you probably currently are especially as a hobbyist on: - Conditioning (Sports Specific) - Flexibility - Mobility - Robustness of most commonly injured sites in combat (neck, wrists, knees, ankles, hips, shoulders).
