🚶 BENGALURU'S FOOTPATHS ARE GETTING THEIR SPACE BACK From July 1–10, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is running a 'Safe Footpath Campaign' across 1,000 km of road network — clearing encroachments from footpaths in all five city corporations. 📊 WHY THIS MATTERS 30% of every 1,000 road accident deaths in Bengaluru are pedestrians. Around 233 shops encroaching on the footpath between the Historic Bengaluru Fort, Victoria Hospital and KR Market were cleared today by the BLR Central Corporation. Many of these were permanent metal-fabricated structures erected using forged documents purportedly issued by the erstwhile BBMP, completely blocking the view of the Historic Fort and leaving no space for pedestrians in one of Bengaluru’s busiest corridors. After finding the documents to be bogus, the Hon’ble High Court directed the occupants to vacate within 15 days. Authorities waited 20 days before carrying out the clearance today, marking a major victory for the lakhs of citizens who use every day.

The 7.5-km Kalena Agrahara–Tavarekere stretch of Bengaluru’s Pink Line is ready for inauguration and will soon be open to the public. For many years, apartment owners have called for a new law that better addresses their needs relating to ownership, governance, and management. Our Government has taken note of these citizen demands. Under the guidance of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri D. K. Shivakumar, the Government has prepared a draft Bill. Before taking it forward, we would like to seek the views and suggestions of all stakeholders. The most pressing issues affecting Bengaluru are traffic congestion, pothole ridden roads, inefficient waste management, and flooding during the monsoon due to waterlogging. My primary goal is to find lasting solutions to these problems and create an environment where the people of #Bengaluru can live peacefully, safely, and with a better quality of life. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರನ್ನು ಕಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳ ಪ್ರಮುಖವಾಗಿರುವುದು ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ , ಗುಂಡಿ ಬಿದ್ದ ರಸ್ತೆಗಳು, ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ವಿಲೇವಾರಿ, ಮಳೆ ಬಂದರೆ ಎಲ್ಲೆಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರುನುಗ್ಗುವ ಪ್ರವಾಹ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಇದೆ. ಮೊದಲಿಗೆ ಈ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಪರಿಹಾರ ಹುಡುಕಿ, ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಮಹಾಜನತೆ ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯಾಗಿ ಜೀವನ ಸಾಗಿಸಲು ಅನುವು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಡುವುದು ನನ್ನ ಗುರಿ. #GBA

It’s a politically risky and unpopular decision. But, necessary for the sake of Bengaluru. At least some footpaths should be reserved for pedestrians. I request people to respect the fundamental right of public to decent footpath. Pls voluntarily remove encroachments or obstructions. It is the law. It may inconvenience you. But, it is for the larger good. ಇದು ರಾಜಕೀಯ ರಿಸ್ಕ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೆಲವರಿಗೆ ಹಿಡಿಸಿದ ನಿಲುವು. ಆದರೆ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಜನರ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆ. ಕನಿಷ್ಠ ಕೆಲವು ಪಾದಚಾರಿ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳಾದರೂ ನಡೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮೀಸಲಾಗಿರಬೇಕು. ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರಿಗೆ ಸುಗಮ ಪಾದಚಾರಿಮಾರ್ಗದ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಹಕ್ಕನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಗೌರವಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ವಿನಂತಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಸ್ವಯಂ ಪ್ರೇರಿತರಾಗಿ ಒತ್ತುವರಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಡತಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರವುಗೊಳಿಸಿ, ಇದು ಕಾನೂನಿನ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದರಿಂದ ಕೆಲವರಿಗೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಅನಾನುಕೂಲ ಉಂಟಾಗಬಹುದು ಆದರೆ ಇದು ನಮ್ಮ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರ ಹಿತಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕ್ರಮವಾಗಿದೆ. #GBA #GreaterBengaluruAuthority

ಹವಾಮಾನ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ಭಾರೀ ಮಳೆಯ ಘಟನೆಗಳು ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಿರುವ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಇಂತಹ ಮಳೆಯನ್ನೂ ಸಮರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ನಿಭಾಯಿಸುವ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವಿರುವ ಮಳೆನೀರು ಕಾಲುವೆಗಳ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ, ನಗರದ ಮಳೆನೀರು ಕಾಲುವೆಗಳ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಬಲಪಡಿಸಲು ಹಾಗೂ ಭಾರೀ ಮಳೆಯ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ರಸ್ತೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರು ನಿಲ್ಲುವ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ನಿವಾರಿಸಲು ₹2,000 ಕೋಟಿ ಹೂಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. Bengaluru needs drainage infrastructure that can withstand heavy rainfall spells which are becoming increasingly common due to climate change. Hence, we are investing ₹2,000 crore to strengthen the city’s stormwater drainage system and address road flooding during heavy rains. #BetterBengaluru

ಬೆಸ್ಕಾಂ ತಂಡಗಳು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಾದ್ಯಂತ ಬಳಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿಲ್ಲದ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಕಂಬಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರವುಗೊಳಿಸುವುದು, ಟ್ರಾನ್ಸ್‌ಫಾರ್ಮರ್‌ಗಳ ಸುತ್ತಲಿನ ಬೇಲಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಳಾಂತರಿಸುವುದು ಹಾಗೂ ಪಾದಚಾರಿ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿನ ಅಡೆತಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರವುಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಸಂತಸದ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆ. ಪಾದಚಾರಿ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳನ್ನು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತ, ಸ್ವಚ್ಛ ಹಾಗೂ ಸುಗಮಗೊಳಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಇಲಾಖೆಯೂ ತನ್ನ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಬೇಕು. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಲಾಖೆಗಳ ಸಹಕಾರದೊಂದಿಗೆ, ಉತ್ತಮ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದತ್ತ ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಮುಂದುವರಿಸೋಣ. It’s encouraging to see BESCOM teams working across Bengaluru to remove idle poles, shift transformer fences and clear obstacles from footpaths.
