Lanterns treats the ring like a service weapon — having it isn't the same as having the judgment to use it. That one choice is why the show works. #Lanterns

Chris Mundy says there was never an action version of the Lanterns finale, and I believe him. I'm not asking for a fight. I'm asking where the peak is. Too much of the hour gets told instead of shown, and John Stewart's flight came off stiff. Did the landing work for you?

Green Lantern had a production problem before this show shot a single frame. 2011 gave us a CGI suit, a digital world, and a man who lived in neither one. Lanterns had to make him believable before it made him spectacular. Episode 1 understood that completely.

Straight out of the Clayface screening. No spoilers. More to come. Clayface Movie @WarnerBros Curly #Clayface #DCStudios #DCU #WarnerBros

Everyone's mad Lanterns never put John Stewart in the suit. I went back to his first appearance, Green Lantern #87, December 1971, and John refuses the mask right there. He's been editing the costume since day one, and the oath too. Did you want the suit?

Calls on the record before Lanterns episode 2. John Stewart disobeys a direct order and he is right. Parallax is already in this story. Hal stopped the backups himself. Sunday finds out. #Lanterns #GreenLantern #DCComics

Hal Jordan knew who John Stewart was before John Stewart knew who Hal Jordan was. He reached into this man's life and broke his career, then years later played it like they were strangers. So did Hal already know he was being replaced?

Hal Jordan drives John Stewart off a cliff and calls it training. Sinestro taught Hal. Hal is teaching John. The real question the show is asking: can the man doing the teaching tell what should get passed down from what shouldn't?

The vault password is the title of a 1985 Alan Moore story. A show that's ashamed of its comic book does not do that. #lanterns

Well that was fun! Thanks brother

Go read Green Lantern #87, cover date December 1971. O'Neil writing, Adams on art. Who picks John Stewart in that book? A Guardian does. Over Hal's objection. The selection was never the thing that changed.

Calling John's parents abusive flattens the most interesting relationship in the episode. They were not breaking him. They were making sure he had the ability to get the opportunity. Not the opportunity. The ability to get it.

Some thoughts for conversation. Not arguing with anybody just trying to add a writers perspective.

James Spader didn't come back to play the same Ultron. Reddington's patience, Alan Shore's grin, and years locked in an attic reading everything. Patient is so much scarier. Is this the best he has ever been in the part?

I once hired a writers room of six for a comedy pilot, and nobody in a room is there just because they can write. Every chair is a job. So I read the chairs HBO just filled for Lanterns Season 2, starting with the showrunner. Which hire jumps out at you?

The Lanterns finale changed one word in the oath, and it's the one real canon move in the hour. Green Lantern: Rebirth taught every Lantern to overcome great fear. John Stewart says embrace. That's yellow in his lantern on purpose. Bomb or scar?

Just my 2 cents

Beau DeMayo says episode 10 got rewritten — and the rewrite is what killed Onslaught. X-Men '97 season 2's real problem was never that it was rushed. #XMen97

Tom King co-created Lanterns, co-wrote Sunday's finale, and he's not in the Season 2 writers room. The internet filled that gap with stories, so I went looking for a source on every one of them. Here's what's actually on the record. Did you think he was out?
