A step closer to making System 03 a reality: Airbnb and Samara co-founder Joe Gebbia has donated $25m to The Ocean Cleanup, helping us continue and expand operations across oceans, rivers, recycling, and scientific research – and to support the launch of System 03 later this year.

Our work continues in Jamaica, where our nine Interceptors located in Kingston stop trash from flowing into the Caribbean Sea.

The rainy season has started in Guatemala, and so have the trash floods. Interceptor 006 was there to catch tons of plastic and other waste that would have otherwise ended up in the Caribbean Sea. 📍 Rio Las Vacas, Guatemala 🇬🇹

Another catch by Interceptor 007 in LA County, USA, and more rain is coming, likely to carry even more trash down with it.

It can be hard to visualize how big Interceptor 015 is, so here's a bagel for scale. *we tried to get a banana but couldn’t find one following tropical storm Rafael.

Update: we are coming to Baranquilla, Colombia! 🇨🇴 We just signed an MoU with Alcaldía de Barranquilla to deploy Interceptor solutions in the Magdalena River and the Caribbean... ...to protect key ecosystems such as mangroves and beaches, and safeguard the livelihoods of fishing and tourism communities. Baranquilla, and the recently announced project in Santa Marta, mark the start of our work in Colombia: the 13th country we'll be operating in. Barranquilla is part of our 30 Cities Program to stop up to one-third of all global river plastic by 2030... And we still have more news on Colombia and other projects coming soon - stay tuned! - Buenas noticias: ¡estamos llegando a Barranquilla, Colombia! ¡Sigan atentos!
