(When the course is made for wind.) We had a super windy day at Kennemer in Holland. Had 180 yards straight into the breeze on 9, went with a dead hand 7 wood and struck gold. A great shot is always satisfying. But the more variables you take on, the more satisfying it is. What’s the best golf course in the USA that... no longer exists? This was once a golf course… Look at the land on the water. Just an unreal piece of ground. That was the original Sutton Bay golf course. Sadly the land kept shifting and moving into the water, it became an un-winnable battle. The course sadly had to be abandoned. I never got to play the original. The new one is incredible, fun and creative and with great views. But the original must have been something else…show more

Who is the longest driving golf course superintendent? The... 12th hole at The Scarecrow was playing 425….but only 370 if you could make an insane carry. Gamble Sands Superintendent Rob Ackerley decided to go for it and ended up green high!!! He was bombing it 350+ all day, even drove over a 360 yard par 4 green. Power for days. The rapper took part in the Derek Jeter Invitational at Baha Mar Resort in Nassau, Bahamas on Tuesday (Dec. 16) and had a shocking moment on the course. Golfweek Senior Writer Adam Schupak captured the moment Ja hit the golf ball directly into the crowd during the celebrity shootout. Off camera, a photographer was hit in the elbow by the flying ball. Why it’s a good idea to play golf with... me- or hang out with me. I have been present or have hung out with people who have had 9 hole in one’s. Today I spent the day at Mt Lake. My host gets a hole-in-one on the very last day the course is open. The course goes under restoration tomorrow!!! Last week it was an albatross on the MacKenzie Course at 21 Golf Club. One of the neatest things about golf in Japan:... The moving walkways! Japan is all about walking golf, despite the fact that it’s brutally hot and super hilly. These walkways are a nice respite. This one is from Yokohama, where the PGA Tour is playing right now. Also the caddies bring solar umbrellas for the players. Legit amazing. They think of everything.show more

“NBA players deal with heckling all the time!” Probably... the dumbest defense of I keep hearing of hecklers at golf tournaments re: Rory phonegate. Do you want golf to be more like the NBA? That’s what you want? We can’t have one fanbase that isn’t ruled by drunk morons? Man children who think they are the attraction? Attending sporting events is awful now. It’s full of drunks yelling and cussing and fighting. Golf is supposed to be different. I personally hope it never goes the way of the world, where disrespect is the norm and acting like a moron is the base. We have the Waste Management. That’s like golf’s “purge” day. One event where everyone can be an idiot and I’m all for that. But let’s keep golf different. Also, if you yell “mashed potatoes!” at a golf tournament, you should be sterilized.show more

Do you walk when you play golf? If so,... do you use a push cart or carry your clubs? If you're doing either, you should definitely give an electric cart a try. It's a total game changer. Using an electric cart is so much easier than carrying or pushing. You’ll have way more energy by the end of the round. For me, that's huge because when my legs get tired, my swing and contact suffer. Plus, I still get all my steps in, which is why I love walking when I play. Sure, you can carry your clubs. I sometimes do that for a quick nine holes. And yes, a manually powered push cart works too. But it's like playing golf in non-waterproof shoes—it’s possible, but keeping your feet dry is so much nicer. That’s how I feel about an electric cart. I can play without one, but having one makes the experience so much better. I love how much more energy I have at the end of the round when I use an electric cart. You’re probably not as good at judging wind as... you think. Video below is two identical golf shots. Same club. Same swing. The only difference? Wind. First shot▶️no wind. Second shot▶️14mph crosswind. The result? A completely different outcome. Most golfers only think about wind changing how much shorter/longer the ball will go. But you also need to factor in how far offline the wind will push the ball. Learning how the wind impacts your ball flight is a cheat code.
