The continuing efforts of local river guardians to investigate... the Cherwell waste dump are really highlighting the utter incompetence of Environment Agency & their failure to uphold the law. It now appears that complaints about the rubbish were made by local people as far back as May & the EA actually attended site in July. Having seen the devastation themselves, did they move to shut it down, as they could have done by blocking the site entrance & seeking a simple court order? Nope, they sent the owner of the land a sodding “stern letter” & let the dumping continue until late October! Failing in the same way as they did at Hoad’s Wood shows this is a systemic failure by the EA & needs government intervention. The investigation didn’t properly start until local river guardians contacted the media this week. Even now, their investigations are bearing more fruit than the EA’s. They guardians have found waste with names & addresses & traced it to the owner, who confirmed they put it in their municipal waste collection. If confirmed this shows the waste is the result of large scale fraud or corruption in the local authority waste management. Perhaps worst of all, the EA are now denying any duty to clean up the rubbish and plan to just leave it there & “monitor” it. Local river guardians have made a petition demanding a clean up. The amount of waste piled up here clearly shows this is not garbage thrown in just one day. People have been continuously using this place as an illegal dumping spot without any fear or civic responsibility. Plastic waste, food packets, and other trash are scattered everywhere, turning the area into a health hazard and an eyesore for the public.What happened to basic civic sense? Public spaces and roads are not dumping yards. It is disappointing to see people carelessly throwing garbage wherever they want and then expecting the city to remain clean. 🚨 SCIENTISTS JUST TURNED WET COFFEE GROUNDS INTO COAL-LIKE... FUEL IN 90 SECONDS WITHOUT DRYING IT FIRST. Researchers in South Korea have developed a plasma-based system that converts moisture-rich coffee waste directly into high-energy biochar. The process uses flame plasma (reaching 1,470–1,650°F) to trigger rapid carbonization through a “popcorn effect,” where steam bursts inside the grounds break apart the structure and accelerate the reaction. In under two minutes, the system produces a carbon-rich material with an energy content of 29.0 MJ/kg comparable to anthracite coal while tripling the fixed carbon content and completely removing sulfur compounds. Why this matters: • Most biomass conversion methods require energy-intensive pre-drying, which this process eliminates • The resulting biochar has a much higher heating value and surface area, making it useful as fuel or for activated carbon applications • It generates minimal smoke and tar compared to traditional methods • The technology could work on other high-moisture wastes like food waste, sewage sludge, and agricultural residues The deeper implication: This represents a fast, potentially decentralized way to turn problematic organic waste into valuable resources. One the lesser known cases of Christian persecution is... the crucifixion of 26 Christians in Japan in 1597. Worried about the growing popularity of this foreign religion, the Japanese authorities started a campaign of persecution against both foreign missionaries and Japanese converts. Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Japan's ruler at the time, saw Christianity as a threat to his authority and the stability of Japan, fearing that the Christian converts would only have allegiance to the Pope and the Church in Rome. The anti-Christian campaign started after the Spanish galleon San Felipe, heading from the Philippines to Mexico, was shipwrecked in Japan in 1596. The local ruler decided to loot the galleon and then told the Hideyoshi that he had been informed by the crew that Spain had a practice of using missionary work as a prelude to conquest. He claimed to have been shown a map and have been told that this was how South America and the Philippines had been conquered by Spain. The executions in 1597 were followed by a more systematic policy of persecution under the Tokugawa shogunate, which aimed to eradicate Christianity entirely. The anti-Christian campaign largely managed to stem to growth of Christianity in Japan with freedom of religion being introduced first in 1871 during the Meiji Restoration. Today around 1% of the Japanese population is Christian. However, they have been overrepresented in politics for the past 100 years, with 9 Japanese Prime Ministers having been Christian: 3 Catholics and 6 Protestants (including the current PM Shigeru Ishiba).show more

On 18th June, a 13-year-old girl took e-rickshaw to... go to her home in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan. Instead of taking her home, the driver kidnapped her and sold her to someone in a hotel. She was rescued from a hotel on 22nd June by police. In these five days, this minor girl was moved between four different local hotels, forced to consume alcohol to suppress her cries, and sexually assaulted by 32 men. All the hotels connected to this case have been demolished. 12 people linked to the exploitation have been arrested including the rickshaw driver. Anyone who assaulted or helped others to assault this little girl should be hanged to death. Anything less than that is just waste of time and resources.
