70 in a 55? ✅ Roll a stop sign?... ❌ FSD 14.1.2 Mad Max seems to be for heavy, aggressive traffic so you can fit in better. On open roads, it's going to speed like crazy, so it doesn't make sense to use there. And it's optional, so if you don't like it of course you never have to turn it on. Part of me gets it, but part of me wonders why Tesla would even bring this possible scrutiny on FSD when they already got a slap for rolling a stop sign, which like 99% of drivers do, and I feel is safer to do in many situations anyway.show more

It is not spoken about enough how comfortable it... is to be driven around in a Cybertruck on FSD. It feels like you are floating. There’s so much room up front, it’s very relaxing. No other pickup truck can do this, not even close.show more

Here is why I disengaged FSD 14.3.3. Before this... clip starts, I could see a semi coming down the on ramp and saw that it had some momentum. FSD did not slow down but the truck in the right lane would have ran into the other semi and either had to brake real hard or switch lanes. I took over to make it clear to the semi driver that I would let them over. No big deal, would be nice, if FSD could have seen that coming and facilitated that move. Tesla AIshow more

I've uncovered a bit more about FSD V14's behavior... in the snow. FSD has an invisible & binary "Snow Mode" where it shifts in and out of a different profile upon detection of snow-covered roads. Snow Mode is either ON or OFF. It does not appear to be a gradient based on condition severity. Example: In the video below, you can see tiny bits of snow drifting across the highway surface. Before this snow appeared, FSD drove normally (at the speed limit or above). When it saw this snow, it instantly slowed to 10-15mph under the speed limit. Then, when the snow cleared, it sped back up. It did this multiple times over a 10 mile drive: >Drive Normally >Detect Snow >Enter Snow Mode >Slow Down >Snow is gone >Exit Snow Mode >Drive Normally In this particular instance driving between various conditions, Snow Mode was unnecessary for this type of snow drifting. Pressing the accelerator or increasing the speed profile does NOT override Snow Mode. Elon said last year they may need to create different versions of FSD for different regions, driving types, and weather (Deep snow vs. Manhattan, etc). This may be our first look at that separated version of FSD that is activated under a certain condition!show more

This feature is going to save so many lives.... Tesla will now automatically activate FSD on your behalf when it detects a collision. It may also activate if it finds you are distracted. Wow. Think about how crazy this sounds and the level of training the car must have to detect these things on its own.show more

Since v14, FSD has this weird obsession with moving... from the inner lane to the outer lane during a left turn. For me, it happens on every two-lane left turn. And it does it in a very jerky, dangerous way — even if it means cutting in front of another car, FSD will still insist on doing it. Is this because FSD is more afraid of hitting the curb at the corner than of getting rear-ended by someone else? This really feels like a serious bug to me. I’m not sure whether it’s because the model is overfitted to avoid curbs during turns, or because it was trained to always end up in the rightmost lane after a left turn. I honestly don’t know, but I really hope this gets fixed soon.show more

There are some small differences in UI between Tesla... FSD V14 Lite and HW4 V14. • Starting Self-Driving requires brake to confirm. It’s on by default. • There is no FSD intervention survey, just a voice message. • No Self-Driving stats (hope that can be added in the future). • Arrival options do not appear when approaching the destination. • It does not say “Driving to Whole Foods” when FSD is activated (I hope that’s added in the future as well). Keep in mind, this is a legacy Model Y with an Intel chip. All in all, V14 delivers on the main features from HW4 FSD. It parks in your driveway, in parking lots, at Superchargers, etc. It’s been really incredible. A night-and-day difference compared to V12.show more

3 Safety critical interventions in a 6-mile round trip... to the post office tonight with FSD 13.2.9. That’s 2 miles per critical intervention: 1. Goes right through a stop sign shown on map and visualization. See below. 2. At the intersection just past the stop sign, it did not yield right-of-way to oncoming traffic going straight as it was turning left. I had to emergency brake to prevent a collision. Reported. 3. After stopping and waiting at a stoplight appropriately, all of a sudden it accelerated through the stoplight for no apparent reason. I had to emergency brake before much of the car had not entered the intersection. (1) and (2) above are regularly reproducible and I have posted them earlier with videos. Anyone thinking there will be nationwide unsupervised FSD or nationwide Robotaxi this year or next year: you better think again. Still long TSLA, but FSD is at an impasse with no real improvements in 8+ months. Are they making a paradigm shift to simulation training. That’s been my hunch for months.
