Last night, a series of Geran-2 drone strikes were... carried on Zaporizhzhia City. At least 14 impacts were recorded in two waves, primarily targeting industrial infrastructure and warehouses. Ukrainian air defence has become more active in Zaporizhzhia lately. Previously the anti-air fire was more chaotic, but lately there is a clear 10-15 seconds of shooting, followed by an explosion from the Geran hitting its target or getting shot down. It has become more coordinated, going after specific targets, resulting in more interceptions. Microsoft teases a faster and configurable context menu (right-click... menu) for Windows 11 after years of complaints! Marcus Ash, who leads Design and Research for Windows and Devices, says Microsoft is working on making context menus faster, simpler by default, and configurable to what you use most. That last part is huge. Windows 11’s context menu was supposed to fix the cluttered Windows 10 right-click menu. Instead, it became slower, padded, inconsistent, and still messy. You often need “Show more options” just to reach the old menu, which defeats the whole point of redesigning it. Now Microsoft is taking the same approach it used with Start and taskbar: give users control. Resizable Start. Movable taskbar. Smaller taskbar. Customizable Start sections. The principle is that when an object's outline is detected, the clock automatically extends or contracts to adapt to the shape. My project has 39,205 lines of code, and Cursor... can't answer questions about it. Cursor's context seems to be capped at around 10,000 tokens. Unfortunately, this is not enough for any decent-sized project. If you have a large codebase, check out Augment Code. This thing is faaaast! I'm currently using their Visual Studio Code plugin, but you can also use them on JetBrains, Neovim, and even Vim. (I'm a Neovim fan, but Copilot's implementation for Neovim is nowhere as good as Augment Code.) Augment Code was gracious enough to sponsor this post. Want to reduce a LOT of the censorship in... Seedance 2.0? I’m going to show you a simple method that almost nobody is using — and it can completely change the results of your videos. Tutorial: First, ask ChatGPT to translate your entire prompt into the Tibetan language. Since it is a less common language in China, this can sometimes help bypass some of the censorship limitations. After that, use the translated prompt inside Seedance 2.0 to generate the video. This is exactly how the video shown above was created. To generate the videos, use Yapper . Microsoft is testing a new feature in Windows 11... called Low Latency Profile that gives a short boost to your CPU for 1 to 3 seconds when you open apps or menus. Early tests show Microsoft apps like Edge and Outlook open up to 40% faster, while the Start menu and other menus can load up to 70% faster, with CPU use jumping high for a few seconds then dropping right back down. Microsoft says this is normal because Apple does it in macOS and Linux, plus phones use the same type of quick CPU boosts for better speed. The feature is only in early Insider testing now, so it is not out for everyone yet.show more

A friend of mine just recently got his first... gun, a striker fired Glock 19. He is terrified to leave a round chambered. To anyone reading this who has this same fear, I want to alleviate your concerns. I'm going to explain why there is nothing to be afraid of. First and foremost, I fully understand your concern. It's not irrational. And you're not stupid for being nervous about a bullet being aimed at your leg with the striker cocked back under spring tension about an 1/8 of an inch from the primer. I get it. I shared this concern when I was new to carrying. But your fear is due to a lack of understanding of the internal safety features of a modern striker fired handgun. On a properly maintained modern striker fired pistol the striker CANNOT hit the primer on the chambered round without the trigger being pulled. Can't. Not shouldn't. Can't. (If you have any good Sig P320 jokes, this is the proper place to share them) There is a block that the striker will hit and stop if it is released without the trigger being depressed. It works just like a lock and key. There is a channel in the blocker that the striker can pass through if it is in the fire position. It only goes into the fire position if the trigger is pulled which pushes the blocker into the fire position. A spring keeps the blocker firmly in the block position until then. The blocker is a solid piece of steel that won't break. And if your gun is securely in a hard sided Kydex holster nothing can move the trigger unless it is unholstered. Many guns like Glocks have a trigger safety that prevents the trigger from moving due to force of dropping. Your finger has to be on the trigger safety to move it. So the gun cannot fire unless you pull the trigger. And it's easy for you to test this safety feature to see how it works! See the video below. You can try to push the striker forward by moving that piece at the back of the slide forward. That piece is the back of the striker. Push it forward and it will stop. The tip won't come out through the breach. You see it trying to come through but it gets stuck. Now push that little button in. That is the actual blocker. When you push it in you will now be able to move the striker forward through the breach and see how it will strike the primer. You can test this easily every time you disassemble your pistol to verify it is still working. You can break this safety feature by removing the blocker or losing the spring. But if it's there it will work. (You would be the first person in firearms history who has ever lost a spring. Literally the first one. It has never happened before. 😐) But it doesn't come out as part of regular maintenance. You have to disassemble the firing assembly to get it out. That won't happen by accident. And if you do that on purpose you should do this blocker test when you reassemble it to make sure the safety feature is working. My video shows a Glock slide. All Glocks will look like this. Other brands may put the blocker in a different spot or it may be a slightly different shape. But they all (mostly) have the same design. If you test yours as demonstrated and it works like mine does, your gun WILL NOT fire without pulling the trigger. (If you just thought of another P320 joke, this is another good place to toss that out there)show more

this is the worst local ai will ever be.... it only gets better from here. if you are not expanding your mind with these small models you are missing what's happening right now 99 percent tool call success rate. when steered well with the right skills and a framework like hermes agent the node becomes a cognition layer. not a chatbot. not a toy. an extension of how you think. i was cranking this node at 35 to 50 tok/s all day on personal experiments and now after all the work is done qwen 3.5 9B is iterating on its own code. the game it created. fixing its own bugs autonomously. and the part you should probably not miss is that all of this is happening on a RTX 3060. not an H100. not an A100. the card most of you have sitting in a drawer right now. if you just open that drawer and put that intelligence to work every tensor core on that card should be running for you. your work. your experiments. your thinking. you all have it but because nobody told you what this hardware can actually do in 2026 you never tried. the day it unlocks is the day you test your workload, understand the tradeoffs, debug the loops, and then decide if you need to scale the hardware. there is no point buying 3 mac studios when things done well you can squeeze a similar level of intelligence from 9B compared to 70B. but only when you create the right environment for your model through the right harness. and let me tell you i have tried claude code as a local harness. i have tried opencode. i have tried various others. somehow i landed on hermes agent and never left. there is something magical going on at Nous Research. the tool call parsers, the skills system, the way it handles small models natively. nothing else comes close for local inference. own your cognition. your AI. your agent. your prompts. your experiments. why give them away for free. those are who you are and they don't belong on someone else's servers being monitored. just give it a shot with your existing hardware. you run into a problem the community will help you. and if you are migrating from openclaw to hermes i will personally help you make the switch.show more
