Each hitter naturally has a bat path that is... unique to them. Some are flatter, while others are more vertical. A flatter path will usually handle pitches that are higher in the zone or farther away better, while a more vertical path will typically handle pitches that are lower in the zone or farther inside better. Hitters can train beyond their natural path tendencies by learning how to adjust their body and barrel to handle pitches in different locations. This has to be trained. You can’t just tell hitters to cover the entire zone and expect it to show up in games. Hitters need reps learning how to move their body differently to handle different locations. Higher / Away = Flatter Path Lower / In = More Vertical Pathshow more

I’ve watching hundreds, maybe even thousands of hours of... elite MLB swings. This video work was done to determine their bat path. Their bat path determined their hard contact zone. As a catcher, my goal was to be above their bat path, or below their bat path. This was accomplished by utilizing velocity, movement, and obviously, location. The disruption of a hitter’s timing creates weak contact or swing and miss. Whenever I saw hitters that had a lengthy (3.5-4ft) of FLAT bat length in the zone, I knew that we would have to be very careful. These types of hitters had much room for error in their swing. They could be late, and line it oppo, or, they could be early on a hanger, and would pull it for damage. The more downward barrel tilt I saw, the more knob up I saw, and more barrel casting toward catcher I saw, it was always a lesser hitter I was watching. Perfect example here of a flat path. High heater, and flush contact. If you see barrel drop or a cast behind on this pitch, it’s a foul ball, swing and miss, or, a pop up on the infield.show more

This “Layback Drill” w/ #Uncommitted ‘26 SS Nash Brophy... of Wow Factor Baseball Canada 🇨🇦 is a hitting CHEAT CODE 👨🏽💻 •Creates fluidity & efficiency from launch thru turn •Easy adjustability to any pitch plane/location •Tight turns to any part of zone, keeps hands inside ⚾️ •Path builds speed earlier, is more controlled+accurate, and stays on plane more consistently •Connects bat with the entire backside and takes away the inaccuracy of a hand dominant path •Builds momentum for hands to take over late in path (like an axe) •Once in good layback position, all you do is take the back hip + back shoulder directly to the ball while turning, and the path will match the plane of the back shoulder perfectly. •Takes away choppy+pushy path that’s in zone late & leaves early •Becomes rearward turn that’s in zone early & leaves late #baseballcanada #baseballontario #hitting #hittingdrills #hittingcoach #baseballacademy #playerdevelopment #baseballtraining #canada #ontario #toronto #mlbshow more

An Oldie but a Goldie. Approach ➜ Power V... One of the biggest keys to a consistent swing is what happens from approach to Power V. As the knob turns toward the pitcher and into the path of the pitch, the barrel naturally falls behind your hands. We don’t need to flick it back to have it fall behind..DUH From there, don’t throw the barrel at the ball. Release it in the most direct line along the path of the pitch. Some pitches require a slightly steeper path. Others require a flatter one. But the goal stays the same: ✔️ Keep the barrel below your hands through extension. Approach = The barrel works to the side of the shoulder as the body turns toward the pitcher. Power V = The release of the lag and extension of the barrel through the baseball. Master that section of the swing, and you’ll give yourself a much better chance to create consistent contact, adjust to different pitch planes, and produce real power. Signal... Putin is offering Europe another path... Putin is... speaking directly to the European people... “We don’t want to fight you. We want to cooperate with you.” That places another option in full public view... restore relations, reopen trade, lower tensions and step back from a wider war ordinary people will ultimately pay for... This is Sun Tzu in motion... change the conditions surrounding the conflict before a larger battle becomes necessary... By speaking over Brussels, Putin gives Europeans a reason to question where their leaders are taking them and what staying on this path will cost... Then comes the oldest rule in geopolitics... the enemy of my enemy is my friend... Across the world, people are recognizing the same common enemy... endless fear, escalation, economic pain and a war machine that always demands more sacrifice from the public... Once that becomes clear, old rivals begin finding common ground... Putin has placed cooperation on the table... now Europe’s leaders must explain why their people should continue absorbing higher prices, lost industry and growing military risk when another path is openly being offered... Sometimes the most important move is showing people that another move exists...show more

In simple terms: The best hitters create power and... adjustability by using their trunk (rib cage and torso) efficiently. When the shoulders stay back a little longer, hitters gain two huge advantages: 👉They don't commit too early, which gives them more time to recognize and adjust to pitches. 👉They can create a bigger burst of speed when it's time to swing. Think of it like a rubber band. The longer you can keep tension without forcing it, the more powerful the release. For that to happen, the upper body and lower body can't move as one rigid piece. The pelvis starts and slows down at different times than the rib cage. That separation is what creates both power and adjustability. ❌Hitters who move everything together usually have to commit earlier and have fewer options when the pitch isn't what they expected. Power and adjustability aren't opposites—they come from the same ability to sequence the body correctly. Use this simple drill connecting a pvc pipe or long tube to the chest and practice your best range of motion every day before you hit.show more

HANDLE THE BALL AGAINST PRESSURE This clip is a... masterclass in handling the ball against pressure. Most players think that the more moves they make, the better BallHandler they are. In reality, a players ability to Start-Go-Stop is what makes them productive. Do you have a starting move that can get you downhill. On that ‘go’ can you be in control under pressure. Then, do you have the ability to stop to create separation, and be comfortable in a face up so that you can make a decision and play.show more

The Packers attack the Steelers' protection with a classic... "Spike" path opposite the RB. Traditionally, this path attacks the side of the protection where the RB is located. Moving it to the open side and away from the RB creates a better angle for the initial blitzer to spill the block. The path creates a natural cross-dog action as the LB in charge of the RB wraps around on a "Hug Rush." Once the RB initiates a block, he inserts on a blitz (Green Dog). 🔥How to execute a Steeler Stunt Step 1: Dip... and Step To get to your assigned gap it’s critical to avoid contact on your first step. To accomplish this step lateral and dip your shoulder to reduce the surface area your opponent can use to seal you from your gap. Step 2: Read the adjacent blocker Transfer your eyes from the primary blocker to the adjacent blocker so you can react appropriately to his block. On this play, since the adjacent blocker pulls the proper reaction is to get vertical. Step 3: 2nd Step Vertical In order to disrupt the pin and pull you need to get vertical. This will put you in the path of the RB and in prime position for a TFL.show more

Most hitters train to look good. Comfort. Clean swings.... Perfect reps. Praise in the cage. That’s not what decides games. Games reward hitters who can simplify under pressure, make clean decisions, and trust one clear intent when it matters. That’s how at bats are won. That’s how runs are scored. That’s how games are decided. This is how I train hitters. Not for aesthetics. Not for social clips. For performance when it counts. Ask yourself, are you training to win? Or to feel good? My advice to most hitters? Spent 50% of training on sharpening your swing (your sword) Then 50% of focusing on winning (the battle) Both are important. Don’t just fight, if your blade is dull you’ll get whooped. There 100% is a mechanical advantage. But also need to train to WIN. Flat out… WINshow more

Faith in humanity is a rational hope that, by... choosing the path of reason and compassion, it can overcome its own limits and rise to the level of a mature civilization. : The author defines faith in humanity as a rational hope grounded in reality rather than wishful thinking. It is the conviction that by consciously choosing the path of reason and compassion, humanity can overcome its own limitations and rise to the level of a mature civilization. This faith acknowledges our flaws selfishness, short-sightedness, tribalism but refuses to accept them as permanent. It trusts in our demonstrated capacity for growth, learning, and moral progress. Reason gives us the tools to understand and solve problems; compassion gives us the motivation to use those tools for the benefit of all. When these two forces work together, they become a powerful transformative current capable of reshaping societies, institutions, and human relations. Faith in humanity is therefore not passive belief but an active orientation a commitment to build, to improve, and to aspire higher, even when the path is difficult. It is the quiet but firm assertion that we are not doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. We can do better, and we should.show more

I want parents to really think about this. Imagine... paying good money for lessons because you care about your daughter’s long-term development… and the first thing you’re told is that “swinging down isn’t correct.” Instead it’s barrel depth, elite path, and swinging up because “that’s what the pros do.” That’s where development goes backwards. Most young athletes aren’t broken they’re underdeveloped in movement. They don’t understand shoulder angles, how to get on top of the ball, situational hitting, or how the body actually organizes a swing. That’s not their fault. That’s instruction skipping steps. In my cage, athletes do not swing up first. They have to earn the right to swing up by first owning the down. We stay at the top of the zone, learn how to find the down, and teach how the shoulders orient the swing. The up isn’t cued or forced it’s a byproduct of correct movement. What floors me is how often kids, especially in softball, are taught to swing up immediately. How do you start middle-down and swing up in a sport where the ball is traveling on an upward plane? It makes no sense. Baseball and softball mechanics are the same the body doesn’t change. But instruction must start differently because pitch plane is different. Baseball breaks down. Softball rise spins up. If a softball hitter can’t control the down out front, they’ll never handle elite rise. Once control is there, the femur turns down, the torso gets pulled up, and the natural up shows itself. No forcing. No manipulation. I can post videos like this all day. I’m not teaching a “style.” I’m teaching how the body is designed to move. I’m demanding because parents invest real time and money, and I won’t waste either. If you want game swings that hold up to velocity and plane find the down!show more

YOUTH ZONE Having coached youth for a while now,... playing Zone is the ultimate cheat code. Players can’t pass far enough or shoot from distance enough to effectively beat a zone. To me, it’s a waste of time playing against a zone in youth basketball. Although I do understand some coaches doing it bc it is easier to put in. I actually like pressing man to man for portions of the game bc it makes players develop how to handle the ball and pass against pressure, as well make faster decisionsshow more
