Big Protein has convinced an entire generation they need... a gram per pound of bodyweight. They don't. They're being sold way more protein than they can actually use, and a tub to mix it in. The ceiling for muscle protein synthesis sits closer to 0.7g per pound of bodyweight. Above that, the magic stops. You're not building extra muscle. You're deaminating the surplus, dumping nitrogen as urea, and lazily converting the rest into glucose. Premium steak, burnt as second-rate fuel. Congratulations. And here's the bit the protein bar adverts somehow forget to mention. Excess protein becomes weak, glucose-adjacent energy that taxes the liver and the kidneys, when the body would have vastly preferred to be running on fat. Dense. Stable. Clean. The morning began with heavy artillery shelling that explicitly targeted the immediate perimeters of the Nabatieh Government Hospital and the Nabih Berri University Government Hospital, in south Lebanon. The attacks in the south then expanded into the Bekaa, where a drone strike targeted the plains between Hizzine and Taraya, followed by a series of heavy airstrikes on the Barghaz Valley. In Western Bekaa, Mashghara was hit repeatedly by Israeli drone strikes, accounting for six of today's attacks alone. Meanwhile, consecutive airstrikes targeted residential areas in Toura, Shoukin, Deir Qanoun al-Nahr, and Abbassiyeh. On the ground, the Lebanese Army successfully intervened to dismantle an unexploded Israeli munition dropped directly inside a critical water treatment station in Ibl al-Saqi. This operation led to them discovering an Israeli surveillance drone monitoring the Halta area of Hasbaya. This wave of Israeli aggression builds on yesterday's attacks, which reached the hundreds, including 15 massive airstrikes and a massacre that killed nine people in Tayr Debba. Since March 2, US-backed Israeli attacks have killed at least 3,666 people killed and more than 11,321 injured. There have been over 160 direct attacks on healthcare facilities and medical teams, which includes the complete destruction of more than 100 emergency vehicles.show more

But they were still made and have been embarrassingly wrong. From a “peer-reviewed” perspective, the CMIP5 and CMIP6 models generally show that the first September (the month with the Northern Hemispheric sea ice minimum) with “ice-free” conditions in the Arctic (i.e., the monthly mean sea ice extent falls below 1 million km²) will occur in the 2040s, perhaps as soon as the mid-to-late 2030s. 🔗 But, if I had to make an educated guess, I would say that those ice-out dates probably won't materialize either. Time will tell. These predictions of doom do far more to undermine the public's trust in science than build it.show more

Santiago de Cuba is Cuba's 2nd most populated city and could take hurricane conditions overnight. Only three major hurricanes have ever tracked across eastern Cuba in history: Matthew (2016), Ike (2008), Dennis (2005) Melissa will become the fourth overnight into Wednesday morning.
