[ Grab from 3d model ] So the problem is we're at that stage in time (typical for AI) where image-to-3d models are not good enough but are fun to play with, but we know they'll be good enough in 1-2 years With [ Make 3d model ] you already can turn any Photo AI pic into a 3d model but it still looks hyper clunky and deformed, but it works! One cool idea I had to make that more useful and made now: Let people make a 3d model then change the view of the it with the 3d viewer, then press [ o ] and it grabs a frame of the 3d That image you can then [ Remix ] (img2img), and it becomes a real photo again and that in turn you can then turn into a video again with [ Make video ] So that essentially gives you a fully freeform camera position control to take photos with One thing I need to fix is the background/skybox, I kinda need to take the original photo and remove the person and just get the background for the 3d model viewer, in this case it should be white, but it's a start!show more

I'm still playing with 3D storyboards for Seedance 2.0.... Even when I ask for a 2D video, using a 3D storyboard often pushes the model toward a 3D look. I haven't tested it extensively yet but there definitely seems to be a bias. So 2D storyboards work better for 2D videos, while 3D storyboards are better suited for 3D or photorealistic outputs. Another thing I found is that my video prompt is already very detailed. If I remove the storyboard section and generate the video without attaching a storyboard, the model still follows the same beats. The main difference is the environment. With a storyboard, it tends to recreate an environment that closely matches the storyboard. I also think storyboards help with certain poses and compositions. Another big drop from Hunyuan3D by Tencent. Hunyuan3D-Buffalo 1.0... is not just another text-to-3D model. The more interesting part is its approach to 3D understanding and editing. It can understand separate parts of a complete asset, extract them, remove or replace them with prompts, and edit only the selected region while keeping the rest of the geometry unchanged. That feels like a much more useful direction for 3D AI in general: not just generating a mesh once, but actually understanding its structure and letting you continue working with it. Huawei's new 3D lock screen wallpaper is actually pretty... interesting. Unlike iPhone's Spatial Photo, which creates a fixed stereoscopic depth effect from a photo, this lets you scan an object 360°, generate a full 3D Gaussian Splatting asset, and use that as your lock screen. Tilt the phone and you're moving through a reconstructed 3D scene, not a fixed stereo image. The part worth paying attention to: 3D capture moving out of creative pipelines and into everyday phone personalization. That's a different kind of adoption curve.show more

🚨 CHINESE SCIENTISTS JUST INVENTED 3D PRINTING THAT CREATES... OBJECTS IN 0.6 SECONDS USING ONLY LIGHT. Researchers at Tsinghua University have developed a new method called DISH (Digital Incoherent Synthesis of Holographic light fields) that can print complex millimeter-scale objects almost instantly. Instead of slowly building layer by layer, the system fires thousands of precisely patterned light images from multiple angles into a still vat of liquid resin. Where the light overlaps, the resin instantly hardens into a solid 3D object. The entire process takes just 0.6 seconds. Why this matters: • It’s currently the fastest volumetric 3D printing method ever demonstrated • Achieves extremely fine detail features thinner than a human hair • The resin stays completely still, so there’s no vibration or distortion • It can work with watery (low-viscosity) resins, making it suitable for biological applications • The team has already printed complex structures like blood vessel-like tubes and even a tiny bust of a historical figure The deeper implication: Traditional 3D printing has always been limited by speed and the need to move either the print head or the resin. This approach removes both constraints by using light itself as the sculptor. Because it can print directly into still liquid (and potentially onto living tissue), it opens new possibilities in bioprinting, medical devices, and rapid manufacturing. If the technology can be scaled beyond millimeter sizes, it could fundamentally change how we think about making physical objects turning “print” from a slow process into something closer to instantaneous fabrication.
