🚨One split-second decision separated this F-18 from disaster. This... Spanish Air Force EF-18 Hornet shocked hundreds of thousands of spectators at the Gijón Air Festival when it suddenly rolled hard toward the sea during a low-level pass. It wasn't pilot error. The pilot detected a flock of birds directly in the jet's flight path and immediately executed an evasive manoeuvre, avoiding a potentially catastrophic bird strike before safely recovering just above the water. At airshow speeds and low altitude, there is almost no time to react. Moments like this are a reminder that skill, training, and split-second decision-making can make all the difference. 🚨 Watch how close this F/A-18 came to disaster.... On July 27, 2025, during the Gijón Air Festival in Spain, a Spanish Air Force EF-18 suddenly rolled toward the sea as the pilot reacted to a flock of birds in its flight path. At that altitude and speed, there was virtually no time to react. Skill, training, and split-second decision-making made all the difference.show more

This F-15 fighter jet is hooked up mid-air to... a tanker getting topped off when the pilot decides it’s time to go. The second he disconnects he banks hard and blasts away over the patchwork farmland below while the text pops up saying the Air Force doesn’t do “goodbye” — they just hit you with a “SEEEYUH!” and disappear into the sky. Would you ever ride along in a jet that treats aerial refueling like a quick gas station stop before vanishing like it was never there? Or is this exactly why USAF pilots live in a whole different reality from the rest of us?show more

The War was cold, but accidents happened... May 25... 1968: a Soviet Air Force Tu-16 "Badger" [Reg. Unknown] crashes 150 mi West of Norway, all 6 aboard die. Jet made a low pass near US Navy aircraft carrier USS Essex (CV-9), flying just 50 ft above the sea, when the wingtip hit a wave that sent the bomber into a cartwheel. The accident was captured in camera by a US film crew that was aboard the ship. More info below ⬇️ 🧵 ‘I was there and watched the entire thing while working on the flight deck. I was a helicopter mechanic in HS-9 at the time. When it overflew the flight deck you could feel the heat and smell at jet exhaust. After the flight deck overfly (starboard to port) he continued to fly away from the ship at low level. He gained a little altitude and started to make a left turn, leveled back out, lost altitude and just when it looked like he was going to make a controlled ditching his left wing dipped and hit the water and then he cartwheeled in a ball of flame.. Our helicopters were in the air already and made a beeline for the crash, hovered in the smoke but no one survived.’ Extra info with statements by an eyewitness are from an article from "The Aviation Geek Club" (will add link to their full article latershow more

The question of why the pilot doesn't appear to... take evasive action often comes up when viewing gun camera footage and there are several factors to consider in this regard First of all these cameras usually captured film at a relatively high frame rate, for example the US AN-N6 camera had three selectable frame rates, 16, 32 and 64 frames per second and usually the middle speed was selected A typical playback rate is 24 frames per second when such films are digitized so one would be viewing it at 75% real time in that case, basically the action is actually happening faster than what one can see on screen Below is an example of US Navy gun camera footage first as digitized and with playback speed corrected to be closer to real time This indicates that in reality the pilot being targeted would in fact not have had a lot of time react before it was too lateshow more

🇺🇸 When the cable snapped, the pilot did not.... An E-2C Hawkeye came within seconds of disaster after an arresting cable failed during carrier landing. One of the most dangerous moments any naval aviator can face. No panic. No hesitation. The pilot pushed the throttles forward instantly and fought the aircraft away from the sea, clearing the water by just meters. Training took over. Skill decided the outcome. This is why carrier aviation remains one of the hardest jobs in the world.show more

Watching a pilot boat punch straight through a massive... wall of water like this shows the difference between a real workboat and a luxury yacht. Most recreational hulls would get destroyed in conditions like these. This is why pilot boats are built like floating tanks. It completely disappears into the whitewater for a second and just pops out the other side like nothing happened. A luxury superyacht costs tens of millions, yet it stays tied to the dock when the ocean looks like this.show more

Poland Showcases Its Pilot's First Flight on an F-35... Fighter Jet Poland’s Ministry of Defense has unveiled the first flight of a Polish pilot on the F-35 Hussarz fighter jet. The aircraft took off from Fort Smith Air Base in Arkansas, where Polish pilots undergo training, according to the Polish Ministry of Defense. "The first flight of a Polish pilot on the F-35 Husarz. This historic moment marks a new chapter in the modernization of the Air Force," the statement read. The F-35 Lightning II was nicknamed "Hussarz" as a tribute to the winged hussars of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, named for their distinctive feathered attire. The F-35 Lightning II is a multirole aircraft, capable of engaging enemy planes (as a fighter jet), striking ground and naval targets (as a bomber), conducting reconnaissance missions, and performing electronic warfare operations.show more

🚨One Dangerous Overtake Can Change Everything The result was... a serious collision that caused the 14-seater to overturn. This is a reminder that overtaking is not a game of chance. Before overtaking, make sure the road ahead is clear, you have enough visibility and there is sufficient space to complete the manoeuvre safely. One reckless decision can cost lives. Unfortunately, I noticed that CENTCOM released footage of the... destruction of a historic fighter jet at the 3rd Tactical Fighter Base of the Iranian Air Force in Dezful. It was a decommissioned MiG-23BN of the Iraqi Air Force that had defected to Iran in 1991 and I was trying to have it transferred to the Iranian Air Force Museum in Tehran in 2012. However, the aircraft remained in Hamedan following to my arrest by the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence, and unfortunately this historic aircraft was destroyed today. This MiG-23BN defected to Iran in January 1991 during Operation Desert Storm, and it was one of the over ten MiG-23s that defected to Iran. Unfortunately, almost all of them were scrapped in Dezful and Hamedan and their wreckage were moved to Tehran, and the last one, which was supposed to be displayed in the museum, was finally destroyed by a U.S. Air Force MQ-9A drone in Hamedan. I also noticed that all F-4s of Shahrokhi Air Base had already been evacuated from the base to protect them from the threat of U.S. airstrikes. Therefore, what remained there was this historic MiG-23BN of the Iraqi Air Force, which was parked in one of the hardened aircraft shelters. I never managed to photograph it myself but I have a photo of this in my archive and I will release it. #OperationLionsRoar #OperationEpicFuryshow more

This is the Crash that became part of Osprey... History Before the V-22 Osprey became one of the most recognizable military aircraft in the world, it suffered a devastating setback. On June 11, 1991, an early V-22 prototype crashed during a test flight. While hovering just 15ft up, a flight control wiring error overrode pilot inputs, causing the left nacelle to strike the ground and flip. The Osprey was designed to combine the vertical-lift capability of a helicopter with the speed and range of a turboprop aircraft.✈️show more

😓 Air India 🇮🇳 Flight AI171 with fully loaded... Boeing 787-7 Dreamliner fatal accident: I‘m an airline pilot with >15‘000h of experience and a physics institute: My brief PRELIMINARY analysis of the visible facts from the video of the takeoff: * The flaps are only slightly extended, presumably to position 1 instead of 5. * The landing gear is still extended, which should have been retracted at this altitude and causes additional drag. * The aircraft is at a high angle of attack, which confirms the insufficient flap setting. * From the video and witness accounts, only low engine noise is audible. * Neither smoke nor fire is visible. * An engine failure is less likely. The most probable cause is presumably a human factor, an incorrectly chosen, insufficient flap setting for takeoff, and consequently an inadequately selected thrust. In this context, the correlated speeds were too low because they were calculated for a larger flap setting or a lighter aircraft. As a result, the aircraft took off with insufficient speed and intentionally but falsely derated thrust, was therefore on the unstable side, and rapidly lost more speed and altitude due to the additional failure to retract the landing gear in a timely manner, leading to a subsequent stall at low altitude and crash. For the experts: the aircraft got onto the wrong side of the speed vs drag curve and maneuvered itself into a corner from where there is no escape. Another possible cause could also have been an incorrect input of a wrong takeoff weight into the Flight Management System, resulting in too low thrust and too low speeds. The pilots got startled after takeoff, couldn’t wrap their head around what went wrong and incorrectly prioritized making an emergency call instead of flying the aircraft first, manually increasing thrust immediately to maximum, and retracting the landing gear. In summary of this very early and preliminary assessment (your confidence level should be as low as mine): The most probable cause is human error 😓 - as most of the time these days. Not because the pilots got worse (although that effect can be observed as well with prioritization of diversity over competence) - but because technology got so much better.show more

𝐏𝐂𝐆 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐘𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐁𝐮𝐨𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐁𝐚𝐣𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜... 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐚𝐥 The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) today discovered a second yellow floating buoy installed at the northern tip of Bajo de Masinloc Shoal during a routine Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) flight conducted this morning. This follows the monitoring of an initial buoy placed in the center of the shoal yesterday, highlighting ongoing activities in the area. Moreover, the PCG has secured the precise coordinates of a reported structure observed during yesterday's operations. These coordinates have enabled a thorough review of historical satellite imagery, confirming the presence of structural debris dating back at least two years. This verification underscores that the debris is longstanding and not indicative of recent construction. Consequently, the PCG's MDA flight was subjected to aggressive interference by forces from the People's Republic of China (PRC). Immediately following the low-altitude pass of a People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy helicopter directly beneath the PCG aircraft, a PLA Air Force Shenyang J-16 fighter jet was deployed to harass and endanger the safe flight path. Such actions pose a clear and unacceptable risk to the safety of PCG personnel and the journalists embedded on the mission. In the face of such aggressive actions, the PCG remains steadfast in its commitment to uphold international law and safeguard maritime jurisdiction in the West Philippine Sea.show more

In the first video, people in Donetsk are seen... greeting a water tanker. In the second video, during the rain, people try to collect at least a drop of water because the water pipeline from the Siverskyi Donets was destroyed by the Russians. When Donetsk was not occupied by Russia, the city hosted the European Football Championship, as well as concerts by Rihanna and Beyoncé. Now, there is no more running water in the city. According to the schedule, water only appears in taps once every three days, and even then it doesn’t reach every household, so water has to be delivered by tankers, with long queues forming for it. People use plastic bags as toilets, and this filth spreads everywhere. This is happening not only in Donetsk - water is supplied once every two days in a number of other cities, including Mariupol. This is how Russia 'liberated' Donbas. Why is this happening? In the past three and a half years - since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 - reservoirs in Donetsk Oblast have significantly dried up. The water supply system from the Siverskyi Donets River was destroyed. The region’s reservoirs and underground water sources are not enough to meet the needs of the population, in part due to the extensive network of coal mines. When the self-proclaimed “DPR” and “LPR” were created in 2014, Ukraine did not cut off this water channel, as it was still supplying water to Mariupol, which remained under Ukrainian control. But at the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022, the situation changed: the Russian army, during its offensive, destroyed a unique hydraulic structure that had supplied the region’s largest cities with water. The Russian authorities decided to build a new canal - the Don–Donbas canal - which was supposed to begin in the Rostov-on-Don area. It soon became clear that the new water pipeline, first of all, could not provide the region with the necessary amount of water, and second, it was built with numerous violations, with a large portion of the budget embezzled during construction. Crimea is also suffering from a water shortage, and the situation is worsening. One of the reasons why Russia is striving to seize southern Ukraine is that it sees this as a way to "solve the water issue" for the occupied territories.show more

Apparently, I saw this video online and I decided... to share. What this worker is applying is called bitumen, or what many of us know as bituminous coating. Most people think a wall is a solid, impenetrable block, but in reality, it is more like a sponge. Concrete and blocks have microscopic pores that pull water from the earth through a process we call capillary action. This thick black substance is the shield that stops that water from climbing up into the house. It is not about making the wall look good because this part will be buried under the dirt forever. It is about creating a skin that water cannot breathe through. When do you need to do this? The need for this arises because the soil is a very aggressive environment. Water is not your only enemy.. The ground also contains salts and sulfates that want to eat away at the cement. If this moisture finds its way to the steel bars inside the columns, those bars will start to rust. And when steel rusts, it expands, and that expansion is what cracks the concrete from the inside out. This coating is the only thing standing between your foundation and that kind of slow destruction. Thats is why if you see wet patches at the bottom of your walls inside your house, it usually means someone skipped this step or did it poorly during construction. You can apply this anytime you are building parts of a structure that will stay in contact with the ground. It is common in areas where the water table is high or where the soil stays damp for most of the year. This is a one-shot opportunity. Once you backfill the soil, you can never go back to fix it without a lot of expense and a lot of digging. It is about having the foresight to protect the heart of the building while it is still exposed. Please don’t ignore this if you need to. If you ignore it now to save a bit of money, you will be funding the future decay of your own home. I hope this helps.show more
