This is the difference between the ELITE & the recreational player The recreational golfer is likely putting this or hitting a bump & run with a 7 iron, or even a 4 iron... Now, while this option COULD get the ball close, it's by far the harder option in this scenario The recreational golfer will play the low shot because it's "SAFE". By safe, I mean less chance to hit it fat or blade it across the green For the elite golfer, height is always easier. They usually don't have any issue achieving good contact with their short shots around the green, so in this case, Shane is able to take out all the undulations around this green & just land the ball on the green & using some spin to slow the ball down The harder shot to get the ball close here would be a shot that is running on the ground. There's too much undulation & the ball could hit a ton of bumps along the way which will affect distance control Any shot is possible to hit here... Our tropical FOX Model just updated, and is interesting... for sure. Continues on the point that the Texas coastline to Louisiana should keep tabs closely with Hurricane Beryl. I think the most likely path at now would be more into far SE TX or NE Mexico, but there is clearly a wide range of outcomes. The FOX Model did good with Hurricane Ian's southward track from range. It did good so far with #Beryl and it's track from this weekend. The test is Wednesday, it takes the center basically over southern Jamaica, as opposed to keeping the center out over the water. Watch how it is on the "edge" of the cone this weekend in the Gulf, then "feels" that window of renewed favorable conditions for strengthening. Definitely do not think "tossing" this outcome is reasonable. Once it crosses Jamaica Wednesday I think (hope) maybe some more clarity will come in. Not that it wasn’t the front row, as we all know those are terrible seats for a movie, but still, they look hugely out of place. In the picture, which granted is just a moment, you can feel the misery and the brokenness. He does not look like a happy man. There is not a muscle on the body that... needs high reps to see its best growth. This is basic physiology. Yes, muscles vary in their ratio of slow to fast twitch fibres. It doesn't matter, for two reasons: 1. Slow twitch fibres reach their ceiling early. They are not the limiting factor. 2. As you approach failure, every fibre is recruited regardless. The body does not leave capacity sitting idle when it thinks it's about to fail. Here is what actually drives hypertrophy: involuntary slow contractions. The point in a set where the concentric is grinding, the bar speed is dropping, and the muscle is being forced to recruit everything it has just to complete the rep. That is mechanical tension. That is the growth signal. It only exists in the final five or so reps before failure. Everything before that is your body coasting on the fibres it was already using. Some muscles tolerate high reps better than others. Calves are the classic example. But tolerating junk reps is not the same as benefiting from them. It just means the damage is less visible. The reps are still junk. If you are living in the 8-plus rep range, most of your set is happening nowhere near that zone of involuntary contraction. You are accumulating fatigue, impairing recovery, reducing training frequency, and spending more time under the bar: in exchange for a growth stimulus you could have captured in a fraction of the reps. More reps past the point of failure proximity is not more stimulus. It is just more cost.show more

Another example of Tesla Self driving better than humans.... I’m following this Legacy SUV in my Cybertruck on FSD 14.2.2.1 and we feel the brakes and are like what’s going on. Then see a deer ahead in front of SUV run past road. Deer makes it across but what is funny but not funny the SUV doesn’t even tap brakes. Don’t even look liked they slowed down. You can see us slowing down behind SUV after deer crosses. This is all done by FSD. I did nothing. People often ask me if I trust FSD. I always say yes. More than humans for sure. The current state of the Islamic Republic is quite... strange. From a social restrictions perspective, it is utterly incomparable to when I was young or even 5 years ago. This goes far beyond people choosing to mass defy hijab laws - the restrictions against things like mixed dancing, concerts, music festivals, rave like atmospheres, drinking, recreational drugs, and all sorts of out of marriage sexual relationships are dissolved to a unrecognizable very low bar compared to the past. No it's not Turkey or Dubai (yet) and yes people still do get in trouble frequently (particularly businesses who host things - which is why you'll go to high end restaurants where everything is happening and they don't care but they'll immediately stop you if you take a picture out of fear it will go viral). But the cat is out of the bag. In every corner of the country the rules are flagrantly defied. Not just in cute underground parties at some well connected kid's house or some hippies doing drugs in a desert 3 hours from the city - no very much in the open, often advertised on social media, and not hidden at all (both videos are from the last month - the second video is in Shiraz). This was unthinkable just a few years ago. On the other hand the political atmosphere is currently closed at a level I don't remember other than the first few months after the 2009 election. It resembles the Islamic Republic of the late 80s more than what we've seen for most of my life. And from an international relations perspective all caution & restraint are gone and you see the most extremist elements (who ironically were kept in check by the older Khamenei who mistrusted them just as much as he mistrusted liberals) increasingly running the show, eagerly acting in a way that I struggle to describe in anyway other than delusional insanity. The economy is shattered to a level in which even the upper middle class are struggling to make ends meet, let alone the poor who are living through unthinkable conditions. This is a very different Islamic Republic from the "normal" baseline my generation is used to. Quality of life continues to nosedive at a horrendous level. Uncertainty is everywhere. External attacks are no longer a fear but a near daily reality. It is increasingly unclear who (if anyone) is in charge and what direction they are trying to steer the country in. The current situation might last for a bit as a transition state, but it is very difficult to imagine something this unstable, with so many contradictions, and this reckless, being durable. At some point very soon something will have to give. It can't last forever like this.show more

One thing we are watching now is potential ERC... (eyewall replacement cycle) beginning. Pressure / wind may have temporarily peaked. Some of the hurricane models have suggested multiple eyewall replacement cycles through Tuesday. For tonight, it is possible this eyewall replacement is quick then we see another dip even stronger overnight with lower pressure and even higher winds. These eyewall replacement cycles will have impacts on how the storm comes into FL Wednesday night. Eventually these should grow the eye and core with time. If the cycles are finished before it hits the wind shear, that could make it a little more resilient to the wind shear. A smaller eye and core probably gets bothered more by the dry air intrusion/wind shear that should be meeting up with #Milton late Wednesday off the Tampa coast. What about labor?!?! The biggest pushback we get on... timber framing is "my labor tho!" Yes, timber framing takes time. Yes, it takes a little more skill than stick framing. (This feels unfair to say because there are some spectacular modern carpenters out there, but. But your basic build quality is fairly low, on average.) However, it is completely possible to slowly build your own timber frame over time in a way that simply isn't possible with a stick frame build that's sitting out in the weather. A friend is about to raise his 12x16 timber frame cabin (it will be used as a workshop) after working nights and weekends for a year+ That time would have passed, anyway. Last I checked, Netflix doesn't pay you to watch it. If you're doing timber framing for yourself on your own time, why worry about the "labor cost?" How long do elephants nurse in the wild? Years.... Wild elephant calves are milk-dependent for the first four years or so, and many will suckle from their mums for as long as they're permitted – often until a younger sibling arrives. A wild mum's milk also changes in composition as her calf grows. Our bottle-fed orphans follow a similar timeline. The formula we use isn't a perfect match for what an elephant mother produces – it can't be – but it's the closest available, and we tailor it to each age group. Without it, these babies wouldn't survive. Weaning happens slowly, at the orphan's own pace. We help it along by gradually diluting their formula and reducing feeds when the conditions are right – plenty of rains, plenty of browse. Some orphans are still drinking some milk at five or six, even as solid food makes up the bulk of their diet. For a hand-raised calf, milk is more than nutrition. It's comfort.
