A comprehensive scientific and rational cost-benefit analysis shows that the costs of E20 blending far outweigh its benefits. Narendra Modi should rethink its mandatory rollout.

@narendramodi A time will come when India will have to pay MSP to farmers not to cultivate sugarcane if we ignore facts now and not have long term plan to substitute it. India could be largest importer of water one day because of Farmers appeasement today. Better Navigation is needed.

@narendramodi If this does not wake up @narendramodi @PMOIndia from E20 slumber, then nation is done! We are importing 1000s millions of litres of ethanol / year, fertilizer imports have spiked due to focus on ethanol production from sugarcane, soil is depelted , water sources running dry!

@narendramodi Consumers deserve a choice. Incentivize E20 if you believe in it, but don't make it mandatory.

During my post doctoral work, I did a lot of research on biofuels. Ethanol has never been an option of petrol and Gadkari was the one who started promoting blending of petrol because of his personal interest. Ethanol production requires bagass and other bio feedstock in Large quantities which is almost impossible in a country like India. Also it has much lower fuel efficiency than petrol, corrosion effects, engine incompatibility etc. Nitin Gadkari is pushing legally only due to his Business interest.

@narendramodi Sugar that destroyed people's health is now destroying people's vehicles 😂... slowly. Indians generally squeeze the utility out of pridyctsy till it breaks down. So Govt should incentivise change to alt fuels CNG, EVs. This is again lobby of farmers

@narendramodi Stop this arrogance of power; nothing is permanent. The only thing that stays forever is good work done for the public. Democracy is not a one-way communication. Wake up and listen to the people who have voted for you back-to-back @nitin_gadkari , @HardeepSPuri

E20 as a kneejerk should have been avoided Govt should have waited, a gradual introduction along with vehicular compatability In India there is a surplus of sugarcane, which is both nudging the industry as well as govt to manufacture & promote ethanol We can't say the farmers to switch sugarcane, that ship has sailed how For the time being E10 should be the main option and give time to both the companies & customer to adopt E20

@narendramodi There is also ways to convert biomass to Crude oil through Hydrothermal liquefaction process. Currently sea6 Energy and HPCL running a pilot project to convert Seaweed biomass to Bio Crude. Seaweed as a feedstock solves the need of land and fresh water.

@narendramodi Total water required to produce one Ltr of Ethanol—from farm to pump—varies widely depending on the RawMaterial: Rice: UpTo 10,000Ltrs PerLtr (due to heavy, prolonged paddy irrigation).Maize (Corn): ~ 4,670 litres per litre.Sugarcane: ~ 3,600 itrs Per Ltr, Govt Shd Think Twice

Talk about how much water is consumed for producing 1.0 litre if Ethanol, please note: It takes 15,000 L to produce 1.0 kh of beef, 9,000 L/kg for Nuts and 6,000 L/kg of Pork. Chocolates 17,000 to 27,000 ltrs. India wastes an estimated 48.42 billion liters of water every day. On an individual level, the average Indian wastes about 45 liters of water daily, which accounts for nearly 30% of their daily requirement. This staggering national loss includes both household carelessness and commercial or municipal infrastructure leakage. I think through water conservation, we can profitably produce Ethanol and still grow our food stuffs.

@narendramodi Unfortunately, certain departments close their eyes when it comes to critical thinking based scientific discussions. This unfortunate situation of having no democratic alternative have made them complacent. Exploit the weak and bow against the strong has been the core policy.

Govt paid 1500 Crore+ in interest subvention while 25000 Crore+ has been disbursed by Banks. Today we have 1800 Crore ltr+ annual capacity with offtake of 1100 Crore ltr. If we are not going beyond E20, Ethanol demand growth will go flatline. Farmers projected virtual income will vanish. Capex of distillery will go on drain, and banks will be back to higher NPAs.

@narendramodi E20 has absolutely no benefit at all. An 11.2% drop in your mileage will result in ~12.6% increase in fuel consumption and will consume the same amount of fossil fuel in E20 as it did in E10, while ethanol intake increases by 2.2 times.

@narendramodi Anand has got a mota funding for E20 debate! If E20 is stopped, Ambani and Aggarwal who sells petrol will be benefitted. On CNG side, Adani will be benefitted instead of farmers who are benefitting due to E20. I will always vote for E20 blending.
