I have never seen more comments asking me basic common sense questions — They don't have to learn math. They could just take a picture of the math problem and have it solved. 18% of freshman at UC San Diego could NOT pass Algebra 1 which is a remedial math class considered to be on an 8th grade level. That’s almost 1 in 5 college freshman who can’t do 8th grade math. I’m sure the answer is to increase taxes to give more money to public education 🤣

It's Culturally Relevant and Responsive Pedagogy." What does a foreign war have to do with teaching kids to do math? The use of highly contentious Tatris is deliberately used to insert ideology into otherwise politically neutral lessons. The technical term is "generative theme" but sometimes also called "teachable moments." They're bold and training on how to do this. Social justice activism is the drug and CRRP is the hypodermic needle delivering it your children. Thus is the result of unhindered politicization of education.

A 19-year-old girl graduated with honors from high school in Connecticut & she can’t read. 75% of students in 8th grade aren’t proficient in math & 70% aren’t proficient in reading. It’s the single greatest long-run crisis that neither party has done enough to address. We’re going to fix that in Ohio.

Since 2019, CPS’s budget has grown by more than 57% to over $9 billion, yet there has been no significant improvement in test scores. Just 21% of students in Chicago can read and do math at an eighth-grade proficiency level. At Douglas Academy High School, which has the capacity for more than 900 students, only 34 were enrolled in 2024. The school spent $68,091 per student, 3x the average, yet failed to produce a single student proficient in either math or English at grade level.

My high school math teacher was the first person who helped me realize I liked math and was pretty good at it. That’s what public schools do. But Trump’s voucher program will drain them of the resources they need. I’m fighting for every kid to have what I had.
