#WATCH | Delhi | Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri says, "...There are 20 crore two-wheelers on the road and 20 lakh four-wheelers using this fuel. The automobile manufacturers, as well as the people who service these vehicles, all say there is no difficulty. Why this sudden interest? We have been using E15 (blend of 15% ethanol and 80% petrol) for the last three and a half years. We have been on E20 (blend of 20% ethanol and 80% petrol) since April of last year. From April 2025 to April 2026, it has already been one year, and we are now another five months beyond that. If someone is suggesting E25 (blend of 25% ethanol and 80% petrol), we have made it clear that we are conducting tests. Those tests will take time. Once the reports are available, we will evaluate them. Then we will discuss the findings with the stakeholders and the automobile manufacturers. After all, I neither manufacture the cars nor the fuel. The car manufacturers are comfortable with E20. Each one of them has made a statement to that effect. Consumers also appreciate the product. We have only begun the rollout of E85 (blend of 85% ethanol and 15% petrol), and that rollout will take some time because new petrol pumps and related infrastructure need to be put in place..."

His decision to invite us again for another round of discussions reflects a constructive approach towards finding meaningful and practical solutions. XP100 TEST SHOWS WHY E20 ANGER IS REAL 🚨 A creator tested 5 litres of normal E20 against 5 litres of XP100 with zero ethanol in the same Skoda Slavia, keeping the route and cruising speed almost identical. E20 ran around 97 km. XP100 ran 116 km. That is 19.4 km/l vs 23.2 km/l. Important caveat: XP100 is high-octane performance fuel with additives, so this is not a perfect lab test of normal pure petrol vs E20. OPINION: If fuel changes mileage this much, give people a choice at petrol pumps. Do not force E20 on everyone and then call complaints propaganda.

I used to admire Nitin Gadkari’s work a lot, but his relentless push for ethanol over the past few months is getting out of hand. Back in 2003 and 2006, the roadmap was clear and calculated, a steady 5% ethanol blending across states when vehicles were properly E5 compliant. That's how policy implementation should look. Instead, we're seeing an aggressive all-India push for E20, and now he is actively pushing for E85 and E100. What’s even more baffling is his response when asked why India isn't adopting a true choice-based model like Brazil. He completely passed the buck, stating that providing fuel options is Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri’s job, while simultaneously boasting that flex-fuel vehicles will give consumers the ultimate choice between ₹70/L ethanol and ₹120/L petrol. Btw he promised ₹15/L ethanol blended petrol back in 2023. If the fundamental policy decisions and market readiness fall under a different ministry, why force a aggressive narrative onto the automotive sector before the infrastructure or consumer choice is genuinely ready?

Therefore, as far as crude oil is concerned, the situation remains quite comfortable. As stated earlier, India consumes around 55 lakh barrels of oil every day ▪️Another important point is that India is the fourth-largest refiner in the world, which provides considerable comfort regarding the availability of products such as petrol and diesel ▪️Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has issued an order under Essential Commodities Act which has directed all the refineries to maximise the production of LPGs and as a result of that, the production has increased. Yesterday, it was 25%, now, it is 28% of our domestic production ▪️We have a very vast network of retail outlets. Almost one lakh retail outlets are operating in the country. The huge success of India’s green energy transition reflects in the fact that till 2014 we managed only about 1.5% ethanol blending; today more than 8000 retail outlets dispense E20 blended petrol across the country. I was delighted to inaugurate the HPCL outlet in Betul, Goa which will dispense E20 blended fuel! HPCL now has 2481 outlets selling E20 fuel & 2649 EV charging stations. This is a first of its kind flagship retail outlet in Goa which has E20 fuel, Power 95, CNG and EV charging facilities & conventional fuels. The outlet also has other services such as a ‘HappyShop’, a quick service restaurant “HappyBites” & ATM for convenience of customers! In order to promote the importance of sustainability efforts of HPCL to the customers who visit Goa from all over the world, the outlet has been developed on the theme of Panchtattvas - आकाश, वायु, अग्नि, जल, पृथ्वी that are essential for sustenance of humankind, in the form of a landscaping.
