In May I was invited to the Oxford Union to debate whether youth activism is "performative." But let’s be honest about what’s actually performative: sitting in wood-paneled rooms, debating , and sneering at a generation of young people who are trying to make change/ The reality? Gen Z isn’t driven to activism by TikTok or influencers. They are driven by the material reality of a capitalist system that has only ever offered them austerity, pandemics, climate chaos, and war. Revolutions don’t drop from the sky. They are the accumulation of a thousand different types of activism from climate strikes and BLM to the university encampments for Palestine. It is a molecular process. Young people are at the forefront because they have the most to lose, and they refuse to be burdened by the cynicism of the past. While the establishment sneers, a revolutionary wave is building. The question isn't whether youth activism is "performative" the question is how we organise that gut instinct to change the world into a real, material force that can actually overthrow the system at the root of the crisis. As Lenin once said: give us one generation of youth, and we will transform the world. We are not outnumbered. We are just out organised. Time to build.

VIDEO | Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan (Dharmendra Pradhan) on CBSE using OSM for examination paper evaluation, said, "Today, certain issues have come to light regarding the CBSE Class 12 examination evaluation process, and a re-evaluation process will now begin. Around 17 lakh students appeared for the examination, and the answer sheets of each student have been securely preserved. In total, there are 98 lakh answer-sheet copies, with each copy consisting of around 40 pages, which means nearly 40 crore scanned pages were evaluated for the first time by CBSE through the OSM process. OSM is a progressive instrument. Many universities and institutions in India, as well as several institutions across the world, are moving towards this system. It is student-centric and designed for the benefit of students. Through this process, students can transparently access information about their marks, and through scanned copies, they can directly view their answer sheets. It helps address students’ doubts and concerns regarding whether they received fewer or more marks, or whether any answer or section was overlooked during evaluation. This is the first time CBSE has implemented this system in the country. Certain discrepancies have come to our notice, and I take responsibility for them. CBSE Class 12 result 2026 has raised serious questions. In 2025, 16.92 lakh students appeared. In 2026, 17.68 lakh students appeared — 76,000+ more students. But despite more students appearing: • Pass percentage fell from 88.39% to 85.20% • 90%+ scorers fell from 1,11,544 to 94,028 • 95%+ scorers fell from 24,867 to 17,113 This happened in the first large-scale year of On-Screen Marking, where Class 12 answer sheets were scanned and checked digitally. CBSE had around 98.67 lakh answer sheets and around 70,000 evaluators. Simple average: around 141 answer sheets per evaluator. If checked in 8–9 days, that means around 16–18 papers per day. Teachers had already raised complaints about blurred scans, slow downloads, server issues and checking pressure. So the question is simple: If a new digital checking system was used, and the result pattern changed so sharply, why is CBSE not giving complete transparency? Students are not asking for free marks. They are asking for fair verification, affordable re-evaluation, answer-sheet access and accountability. CBSE must take responsibility!

It is an extremely profound question. Because hidden inside it are the fundamentals of biology, light, chemistry, and physics. How much better it would be to say: “That’s a good question.” “Maybe we can look it up.” “Maybe when you grow up, you can find the answer.” The tragedy is that many children learn the wrong lesson.
