November was a busy month across Terran R test campaigns. 🛢️ Second stage tank successfully completed acceptance testing with 30+ load cases, including pressure proofing and flight-load simulations. 💨 Transonic and supersonic wind tunnel testing wrapped with 100+ runs of the first stage entry configuration. 🔥 Aeon V dev engine test campaign completed; Aeon R flight engine acceptance testing progressing at NASA Stennis. 🌡️ Hot gas testing executed on the stage press valve to validate performance under extreme thermal transients.

With rocket engines, boring is good. To that end, please enjoy this 1,030-second (17+ min!) BE-7 engine burn. This test represents the Apogee Raise Maneuver or ARM burn for our Blue Moon Mark 1 Lunar lander, plus margin, the longest burn required by the mission to reach the Moon. You may have noticed that the engine for this test does not have a nozzle. BE‑7 is tested in both vacuum and atmospheric conditions. This test was at GEEx—our atmospheric test position in West Texas.

Archimedes second stage engine full duration burn - complete ✅ (and what a thing of beauty). The AVac (Archimedes Vacuum) engine produces 1.2x lbf of its Stage 1 variant and stands ~2.5m taller thanks to its extended nozzle optimized for the vacuum conditions of space. Recent AVac testing included a stub skirt for the nozzle. Since full length vacuum nozzles at ground level risk flow separation and instability, stub skirts are used to anchor our engineers' analysis for how the engine will perform with the full nozzle in vacuum conditions - all critical preparation for Neutron's first flight.

STARSHIP FLIGHT 9: BOOSTER REUSE, ENGINE RELIGHT & A GLOBAL SPLASHDOWN SpaceX is back with Flight 9, aiming to fly Ship 35 past SECO and splash it down in the Indian Ocean after key in-flight tests. Booster 14 will launch for the second time - marking the first ever Super Heavy reflight. No catch this time; it’ll test a high-drag splashdown in the Gulf with a brand-new controlled flip and engine-out landing burn experiment. In this rare design, every drop of fuel and oxidiser powers the pumps before burning, delivering higher efficiency and reusability than standard engines. The complete engine, with 3D-printed core parts, was designed and manufactured entirely in India. Hot-fire tests are next as the company targets orbital flights by 2029.

History has been made by Stratolaunch, a hypersonic flight test research company headquartered in Mojave, California. The fully autonomous Talon-A2, equipped with landing gear, has successfully exceeded speeds of Mach five and completed its second autonomous landing at Vandenburg Space Force Base. This mission documentary follows the first recovered flight of TA-2, the result of five years of effort and dedication marking a pivotal moment in sustainable hypersonic flight test for our country. Congratulations to the Stratolaunch team and partners on this success! Next steps: fly TA-2 again and again, increasing the cadence of hypersonic flight tests for the United States.
