Archimedes second stage engine full duration burn - complete ✅ (and what a thing of beauty). The AVac (Archimedes Vacuum) engine produces 1.2x lbf of its Stage 1 variant and stands ~2.5m taller thanks to its extended nozzle optimized for the vacuum conditions of space. Recent AVac testing included a stub skirt for the nozzle. Since full length vacuum nozzles at ground level risk flow separation and instability, stub skirts are used to anchor our engineers' analysis for how the engine will perform with the full nozzle in vacuum conditions - all critical preparation for Neutron's first flight.

November was a busy month across Terran R test campaigns. 🛢️ Second stage tank successfully completed acceptance testing with 30+ load cases, including pressure proofing and flight-load simulations. 💨 Transonic and supersonic wind tunnel testing wrapped with 100+ runs of the first stage entry configuration. 🔥 Aeon V dev engine test campaign completed; Aeon R flight engine acceptance testing progressing at NASA Stennis. 🌡️ Hot gas testing executed on the stage press valve to validate performance under extreme thermal transients.

E-2 has successfully demonstrated a full mission duty cycle with margin, completing a 201 sec run at our Mojave, CA test site. Multiple 200+ sec test fires have now been completed, proving performance and reliability across engine builds. Key outcomes from this test include: ✅ Structural margins validated – Darkhorse demonstrated stable operation under full thrust loads at gimbal angles exceeding design specifications ✅ Thermal performance characterized – Extended burn duration at off-nominal mixture ratios provided empirical data on regenerative cooling degradation modes and injector thermal limits ✅ Fault tolerance demonstrated – Engine maintained functionality despite progressive damage, validating robustness for anomalous flight conditions ✅ TVC readiness confirmed – Test results validate system integration for upcoming actuated TVC test series l Design optimization insights – Failure mode analysis generated actionable improvements for cooling architecture, injector design, thrust structures, and engine reusability At NordSpace, we push limits. Canada needs to get to orbit with sovereign light-lift launch by 2028 and medium-lift launch by the early 2030s. Our Qualification Model (QM) Gas Generator has successfully accumulated over 15 minutes of operating time across 20 test runs, covering all launch and re-entry scenarios. These tests included: ▪️Ignition and short-duration burn (5 s) ▪️Medium engine running time (20 s) ▪️Stage 1 nominal burn duration (40 s) ▪️Longest Burn (LB) for engine duty cycle ▪️Extended burn (+10%) for qualification margins With more than 15 minutes of accumulated runtime, this Gas Generator has operated at over 400% of a single mission requirement, including simulations of 3 booster re-entry burns, preparing the hardware for reusability conditions. Hardware reliability is a must, and with all those tests, PLD Space can better determine when if hardware can fail during the process and introduce improvements that allow MIURA 5 to a successful mission 🚀
