The first section of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train will begin operation next year, and its inauguration will take place. Work is progressing rapidly. Now the country has the capability to build bullet trains. So the Prime Minister has decided on a corridor. This decision will make the Mumbai-Pune corridor, a 170-km corridor, turn into just 48 minutes for both cities. This means that Mumbai and Pune will become twin cities, and this facility will become a very good economic corridor and an excellent cultural centre... the 500-km route from Pune to Hyderabad will be reduced to a journey of approximately 2 hours and 8 mins. This means that Pune, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vapi, and Thane will all become a very good economic ecosystem."

I am in Japan and having a wonderful experience riding on the Bullet 🚅 Train Shinkansen at 300 km per hour. Taxpayers should thank PM Narendra Modi for bringing the Bullet Train to India, starting with the first 500 km from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, and providing the best infrastructure for the people! We need such bullet train connectivity across the north, east, west, and south.

The Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway is progressing steadily in Jammu, with major viaduct and elevated corridor works advancing rapidly, including the Panjgrain section where large piers are now taking shape. Most stretches in Jammu & Kashmir have crossed 78% completion, and several sections are expected to open during March 2027. The overall 667 km expressway is now targeted for completion by October 2027, after delays caused by weather, security disruptions and some land acquisition issues.

Out of 21 km of tunnelling works, 16 km is through Tunnel Boring Machines and remaining 5 km is through NATM. This also includes 7 km of undersea tunnel at Thane creek. •Approx. 3.6 km tunnel heading has been achieved cumulatively from Shilphata and two concurrent faces from ADIT portal through the New Austrian Tunneling method (NATM). Casting of Base Slab at both Vikhroli and Sawli shafts is completed •Work on all three elevated stations i.e. Thane, Virar and Boisar are progressing rapidly •First Base Slab at Virar Bullet Train station is already cast •Pier foundations and pier work is progressing at multiple locations along the alignment. Around 34 km of pier work is completed •Seven mountain tunnels are under construction in Palghar district, Maharashtra through NATM •Construction work started on Vaitarna and Jagani river

Many people often question why only Gujarat is getting a bullet train and not the rest of India. Let’s take a moment to understand the broader perspective: • Mumbai–Ahmedabad is the first High-Speed Rail (HSR) corridor, but definitely not the only one planned. • It’s one of the busiest rail and air routes in the country, with an average of 80 flights daily in both directions. • The region has a higher per capita income, making it more viable for such large-scale infrastructure. • Despite already having 2 Vande Bharat trains, 1 Shatabdi, 1 Tejas, 1 Double Decker, and several other dedicated trains, demand still exceeds capacity. Importantly, this corridor is just the beginning,the line will be extended to New Delhi, another major air corridor. Future plans also include extending the HSR to Howrah via Varanasi and Patna, connecting several key cities in Bihar. Let’s remember: when the first train ran between Mumbai CSMT and Thane on April 16, 1853, it didn’t mean that was the only railway line India would ever have. Similarly, the Mumbai–Ahmedabad bullet train is just the first step. Over time, high-speed rail will expand across the country. #IndianRailways
