Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says she is going to convince B.C. Premier David Eby to support a new oil pipeline through his province. "I know that he is on Team Canada and I can't imagine in the end that if we meet the issues that have been raised by British Columbia that he would go off Team Canada," says Smith. The situation in British Columbia has reached a breaking point, and Question Period today laid it bare. I pressed Premier David Eby on the simple, unavoidable truth: under his government, major economic opportunities are slipping away, families are leaving in staggering numbers, and investors are looking south for stability they no longer find here. I pointed out what everyone can already see. Trade with the United States is rising, but our access to Asia is stagnating. Energy projects capable of delivering world-priced returns are being blocked. Seventy thousand people have left this province in the last year alone. And now Nutrien, one of the most significant resource players on the continent, has chosen to invest more than a billion dollars in Washington State rather than here in British Columbia. That decision didn’t happen by accident. Even Saskatchewan’s Premier has warned Eby about the dangerous rhetoric and divisive politics coming out of this government. Investors, premiers, and industry leaders across Canada are signaling the same thing: they don’t trust the direction British Columbia is heading. Yet instead of acknowledging any responsibility, Eby tried to dodge and deny. He disputed basic facts and insisted the province is in a period of “epic population growth,” a claim that would surprise the tens of thousands of British Columbians who’ve already left. And after admitting that Nutrien’s decision is “deeply disturbing,” he immediately shifted blame, claiming no one ever told him the project was in jeopardy. In my response, I made it clear that the conversations I’ve had with Saskatchewan tell a very different story. They’re deeply concerned about how impossible it has become to move major projects forward in this province. And Nutrien’s own stated reasons, congestion, bottlenecks, labour instability, reliability problems, and above all, uncertainty, point directly at this government’s policies. The Premier’s answer was to lecture the province on how to pronounce the company’s name and to repeat how many “major projects” he believes are on the books. But none of that changes the reality: when a global company wants to invest a billion dollars, they look for stable rules, predictable permitting, and governments that don’t rewrite the map every six months. They don’t find that in British Columbia anymore. What I made clear today is that this failure matters. It means lost jobs, lost investment, and lost confidence, consequences that British Columbians will bear long after this news cycle ends. The government had the tools to keep this opportunity in British Columbia. They used none of them. And until that changes, more of these opportunities will keep crossing the border. #cdnpoli #bcpoli

He announced this after being asked if he would lift the tanker ban across the Northern BC Coast. Eby says the TMX expansion is not being utilized at capacity and thus he sees no need for a new taxpayer funded pipeline. David also says there is no offer from the private sector to build a pipeline. Enbridge wanted to build the Northern Gateway pipeline 10 years ago. We also had a private offer to build a multi billion $ refinery in Kitimat. Both projects were cancelled because Justin Trudeau & David Eby made it impossible for private investors. In the case of the Northern Gateway pipeline, Justin Trudeau cancelled it in 2016 despite that line having First Nation consent & billions in equity shares in the line. Something I have posted about repeatedly, including a few days ago. Enbridge also spent $1 billion on consultations and environmental impact assessments, only to have the new Liberal government ax the project anyways. Once the BC NDP came to power, they made it next to impossible for a refinery project to be built by ensuring the process would cost far too much, while having too much uncertainty, to be viable. We lost a decade of prosperity because of Justin Trudeau's Liberals & the BC NDP pushing their self serving agendas. Only to now watch David Eby backtrack 10 years later. This should infuriate everyone. We could have had that refinery built by now and be domestically benefitting from & exporting premium jet fuel, gasoline, diesel & various types of crude. The reality is, David Eby is a failure & should be stepping down so a competent government can take over.

Stolen elections have consequences. John Rustad John Rustad wanted to set up a cargo screening network on Vancouver Island that would have allowed the screening of cargo for drugs, contraband and human smuggling because Trudeau refused to. John Rustad being elected the Premier of British Columbia would have greatly helped assure Donald Trump that Canada & British Columbia are serious about stopping the flow of lethal drugs. Instead we have a grinning David Eby (his pinned video), seeming to be elated with the news of tariffs. I am sure Eby is happy to have the focus taken off the stolen election & the BC NDP shutting down the Legislature, after 1 session they used, to give themselves raises & new titles.

We adopted our Declaration of Independence. We do not live under British common law. British common law may serve as a historical guide, but it has to be filtered through our constitutional system. The American people know, instinctively, what this decision is based on. What the opinion argues is that under 1600s British common law, if someone was born on the king’s land, that person became a subject of the sovereign—the king. That, he argues, is the basis for this decision involving the Fourteenth Amendment.”

I don’t care what other legal analysts have to say. It’s worse than the Roberts Obamacare decision. The fundamental core of this decision is based on British common law from the 1600s, and Chief Justice Roberts keeps referring to it. I don’t know which law clerk drafted this opinion, but I know I wouldn’t want them back next term. We’re about to celebrate the 250th anniversary of this nation. We revolted against the British. We adopted our Declaration of Independence. We do not live under British common law. British common law may serve as a historical guide, but it has to be filtered through our constitutional system. The American people know, instinctively, what this decision is based on. What the opinion argues is that under 1600s British common law, if someone was born on the king’s land, that person became a subject of the sovereign—the king. That, he argues, is the basis for this decision involving the Fourteenth Amendment.”
