Sheed-dheer Boarding School is already providing service, while Awbarre TVET College will start operations at the start of the new fiscal year, i.e., September 2026. Sheed-dheer Boarding School is one of 11 Boarding schools constructed by Somali Regional State after the 2018 political reform. The region now has a total of 18 boarding schools, and the objective is to use these institutions to improve the quality of education in the region. We also visited 3 ongoing projects in the district (namely, Awbarre water supply project, Sheed-dheer water supply project, and Awbarre primary hospital), all of which are planned to be completed within six months. These water and health projects are implemented with a total cost of around 1.2 billion Birr.

The Government has approved an eastern coast railway project forming part of the Howrah–Chennai High Density Network. The corridor spans from Kolkata through Odisha covering Balasore, Bhadrak, Jakhapura, Haridaspur, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khurda and Berhampur, and extends into Andhra Pradesh through Naupada, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam up to Vijayawada and Chennai. This stretch is being developed as a four lined corridor to ease congestion and improve connectivity.
