The firefighting drones then fly in and drop fire-extinguishing bombs right where they're needed. The idea is simple: fight fires faster and reach places that are too dangerous for crews on the ground. Nice to see drones dropping a different kind of payload for a change.

The lasers, which travel at the speed of light, are able to burn holes through enemy assets like drones. Firing a single laser beam costs between $1 and $10. For comparison, a defensive missile can cost between $1 million - $10 million. The lasers, which were first tested in 2014, were introduced to combat China's latest hypersonic missiles. The Navy will soon be testing the Hellcat, High Energy Laser Counter Anti-Ship Cruise Missile, a 300-kilowatt laser that would be able to counter a hypersonic weapon. It is unclear if the aircraft carrier is currently equipped with one of the lower kilowatt laser systems.

According to the images, 12 underground hangars are being built at the airfield, intended for fighter jets and drones which is noteworthy because Somaliland does not currently operate any fighter aircraft or large drones.

On drones, the number and size of the orders are impossible for me to give because a lot of those orders are placed under delegated powers at the command and Vice Chief levels. At the centralised level, there are the larger drone orders. Of course, you are aware of the 31 MQ-9B drones. That's about $3.5 billion, and that order was placed about two years ago. Those are the HALE-class drones. A lot of smaller orders have been placed by all three services under delegated powers. After Operation Sindoor, under emergency procurement as well, significant orders for both drones and counter-drone systems have been placed by the services. We are in the process of trying to ensure that, since drones have a very short technological cycle, there is no point in undertaking multi-year procurement for them. We will try to procure these mostly through the fast-track process..."

If you install it on an UAV, the drone is controlled not by radio frequency, like a regular one, but via satellite. 📌 What does this give to the enemy? A real-time picture. Drone detectors - "Bulat", "ZOV" and others - don't see this signal. Starlink is only detected by special equipment, which not everyone has. At the same time, the drone flies high, fast, and it's extremely difficult to shoot it down. 🔄 Ukraine has been using Starlink for a long time. But now such drones are being spotted over Russian territory. Even more alarmingly: in 2023, a signal was detected in ranges that were not previously declared. Presumably, this is the military version of Starshield, which was being tested by a NATO group. The enemy is raising the stakes.
