Agree. After 20 years between agile coaching and dev, the bottleneck was never typing code. It's knowing what to build and what to cut. AI made my coding 5x faster and made those decisions matter more, not less. The taste gap just got more expensive.

Much of the job of a software engineer is automating things. Our tools are getting more capable - but we are nowhere near running out of things to automate.

agreed. sometimes as an engineer we think if a task can be completed then the person that used to that task is not useful, but thats not correct in competitive markets. write a blog on it!
